THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOtLOWs:,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon feels
that it is a~itizeIls highest duty to serve as a juror in either
the federal or state courts when called upon, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the. City of Vernon feels
that serving as a. juror should not work a hardship on either
th..praspective juror or others within hiscommunity,a1.1.d
wHQE4S"the City of Vernon is a small City with a
limited number of employees, all of whom. perform important
governmental tasks necessary to the $afety and well-being of
the residents and occupants of the City ,of Vernon, and
WHEREAS, experience has shown that a person summoned
to jury duty is often absent from his emp loyment for an ext,ended
period of time, resulting in the curtailment or limitation of the
activities which were formerly performed by said employee, or
working a. hardship on co"'employees of the City of Vernon,
NOW, THEREFORE, BElT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
22 determines that an employee absent for service in a federal or
23 state. jury shall forego his salary or wages during the period he
24 is unable to attend to municipal functions.

SECTION 2: Th~.C:tty Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
26 certify to the/passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
t\
27 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
