.1 RESOLUTION NO. 4072
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, OPPOSING
THE PASSAGE OF ASSEMBLY BILL 1098.

4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
5 WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 1098, providing for .andatory
6 retirement benefits of Policemen and Firemen, has been approved
7 by the Senate Committee on Finance, and
8 WHEREAS, the passage of said Bill would double the
9 present costs of retirement benefits for Policemen and Firemen,
10 and
11 WHEREAS, the benefits provided for in said Bill are
12 now authorized if cities desire to provide such benefits,
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
15 does hereby urge the State Legislature to reject the passage of
16 Assembly Bill 1098.

SECTION 2: That in the event said Bill should be passed,
18 the City Council of the City of Vernon urges the Governor of the
19 State of California to veto said Bill.
20
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
21 certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and
22 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
23 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 5th day of October, 1971.
