RESOLUTION NO. 4075
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY of VERNON, OPPOSING
THE REAPPORTIONMENT PLAN PROPOSED BY SENATOR MERVYN DYMALLY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Senator Mervyn Dyma11y of Los Angeles has
proposed a reapportionment p1~n presently being considered by
the California State Senate, and
WHEREAS, said plan would delete the City of Vernon
from the 30th Senatorial District, and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has historically been
included in a Senatorial District, including other neighbor
southeast cities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of
Vernon does hereby oppose the reapportionment plan proposed by
Senator Mervyn Dyma11y, which would delete the City of Vernon
from the 30th Senatorial District.
SECTION 2:
That the City Council of the City of
Vernon urges the California State Senate to reject said plan or,
in the alternative, to amend the same to include the City of
Vernon within the 30th Senatorial District.
StCTION 3:
That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution, and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 2nd day of November, 1971.
