Employees of the Police Department shall receive additional compensation as hazard pay in the sum of $45.00 per month when assigned to solo motorcycle duty. Police Department personnel, with the exception of the Police Chief and the Police Captains, shall be paid straight time pay for overtime work as certified to by the Police Chief, for the following reasons: (a) Disasters such as major fires, civil disturbances, and other emergency situations. (b) Extraordina~ circumstances requiring more than or- dinary law enforcement or fire protection staffing. (c) Time necessary to maintain budgeted post-position coverage during vacancies or absences. Eligible Police Department personnel shall be paid an hourly rate for such overtime work computed by dividing the monthly base salary (hazard pay not included) of the employee ,by 20 (hereby assuming a 20 day working month in all cases) and paying at the rate of 1/8 of the quotient so obtained for each hour of additional overtime work. All overtime pay will be paid on the 2nd pay-day of the month (normally the 22nd) immediately following the month in which the overtime pay is earned. In addition to said salaries, a flat rate of $25.00 per day for any half-day when an appearance is to be made for an off- duty court appearance by a police officer will be paid. In the event the officer is called for a morning court calendar and re- mains under court order beyond the noon recess an additional $15~0 shall be paid for said appearance. In the event that an officer u called for an afternoon calendar and the same extends beyond his normal tour of duty (assuming that he is on duty when called) or if the afternoon calendar is called when he is off-duty, the sum of $25.00 per day shall be paid for said appearance. Said payment of $25.00 (or a total of $40.00 where applicable) shall be payable each day for any off-duty court appearance. In addition to said salaries, officers who have served for the Department through their probationary period shall be en- titledto an additional two and one-half percent (2 1/2%) increase in their salary for the Intermediate Certificate issued by the California Peace OfficerS' Standard and Training (hereinafter called P.O.S.T.) and said officers who have completed their probationary period and who hold an Advanced Certificate from P.O.S.T. shall receive a five percent (5%) increase from their basic salary but shall not receive the 2 1/2% Intermediate Post Certificate incre~ This provision shall take effect on January 1, 1974, and for those officers who have received the Intermediate or Advanced Post Cer- tificates the increase shall be payable for the month of January during the February pay period, and subsequently thereafter shall be paid in the month following. In addition, any officer achievin~ the certification necessary for either the Intermediate orAdvanced Post Certificates (after certification of the same by the Police Chief) shall receive the increase provided for herein for the calendar month following such certification. Said additional pay- ment for Post Certificates shall not be payable to the Police Chief or the Police Captains. The foregoing Salary Scale shall be payable commencing August 1, 1973. Until said date of August 1, 1973, the Salary Scale set forth in Resolution No. 4164 shall remain in full force and effect. SCHEDULE III POLICE DEPARTMENT -2- . .~J. ~ !
