1 RESOLUTION NO. 4217
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING
CONTRACT NO. 378 FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION - SANTA FE AVE-
3 NUE AT VERNON (E) AVENUE -IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 378 OF
THE CITY OF VERNON

5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
6 WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of
7 the City of Vernon Contract No. 378 providing for traffic signal
8 installation, Santa Fe Avenue at Vernon (E) Avenue in the City of
9 Vernon, California, and
10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has deter-
11 mined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon that
12 said Contract be awarded in accordance with applicable state laws,
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1: That Contract No. 378 is hereby approved by
15 the City Council of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
17 hereby directed to file in his office in the City Hall of the
18 City of Vernon a copy of Contract No. 378.
19
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
20 hereby directed to give Notice, in writing, inviting sealed pro-
21 posa1s or bids for traffic signal installation, Santa Fe Avenue
22 at Vernon (E) Avenue, in accordance with Contract No. 378 and in
23 accordance with this Resolution.

SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circu1a-
25 tion printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the
26 City Clerk is hereby directed to post said Notice or cause the
27 same to be posted in three (3) of the most public places in the
28 City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and
29 Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and
30 Pacific Boulevard and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the
31 City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue
32 in said City.

SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon has
2 ascertained that the general prevailing rate of per diem wages
3 and the rates for legal holidays and for overtime work in the
4 locality in which the work is to be performed, described in Con-
5 tract No. 378, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
6 needed to execute the Contract which will be awarded to the suc-
7 cessful bidder, and that the general prevailing rate of per diem
8 wages and rates for legal holidays, for overtime work in the 10-
9 cality of the execution of said Contract No. 378 for each craft,
10 classification or type of workman needed is set forth in said
11 Contract and incorporated by reference at this point for all
12 purposes as if set forth in full and hereby approved by the City
13 Council of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 6: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
15 hereby directed to post said Notice forthwith and the first pos-
16 ting of said Notice shall be not less than ten (10) days before
17 the date of opening bids for the proposed work. That said Notice
18 shall provide that sealed proposals or bids will be received by
19 the City of Vernon, California, at the Office of the City Clerk
20 of said City at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon,
21 California 90058 until the hour of Two o'clock (2:00) P. M., on
22 the 19th day of March, 1974, and in accordance with Contract No.
23 378 approved by said City.

SECTION 7: That the City Cle:tk of the City of Vernon
25 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
26 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
27 ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 5th day of March, 1974.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTAL-
LATION AT THE INTERSECTION OF SANTA FE AVENUE AND VERNON (E) AVE-
NUE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 378 OF THE CITY OF VERNON
Pursuant to Resolution No. 4217 of the City of Vernon,
adopted on the 5th day of March, 1974, directing same, notice is
hereby given that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the
City of Vernon, California, at the office of the City Clerk of
said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, until the hour
of two (2) o'clock P.M., on the 19th day of March, 1974, for traf-
fic signal installation at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and
Vernon (E) Avenue, in accordance with Contract No. 378 approved by
12 said City. The proposals will be publicly opened and read in the
13 Council Chambers of the City Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
14 Vernon, California, on the date and at the time above mentioned.
15 Specifications and contract documents may be obtained at the above-
16 mentioned office of the City Clerk upon payment of a deposit of
17 ten dollars ($10.00) for each specification.
18 The construction to be done and materials to be furnished
19 under said Contract No. 378 are approximately as follows:

Install signals, foundations, controller, cabinets, conduit,
21 conductors, detectors and do all appurtenant work as shown on Plan
22 No. T 1948.
23 The construction shall be in accordance with Plan No. T 1948
24 and Contract No. 378 heretofore approved by the City Council of
25 said City, and now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
26 City, a copy of which may be secured from the Director of Public
27 Works of said City.

1 per cent (50%) of the contract price, and a faithful performance
2 bond in an amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the
:3 contract price.
4 Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may with-
5 draw his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set
6 for the opening thereof.
7 A deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to
8 secure the Plans ctnd Specifications, as a guarantee that the
9 PIctns and Specifications \"i11 be returned, which deposit will be
10 refunded in case same are returned to the City in good condition

11 not later than thirty (30) days after the bids on the work will
12 have been opened.
1:3 The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and
14 all bids or waive any infonna1ity in the bid.
