2 A RESOLlrrION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON APPROVING
CONTRACT NO. 385 AND AlrrHORIZING NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS

DANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 385 OF THE CITY OF VERNON

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of
the City of Vernon, Contract No. 385, for preventive maintenance
of asphalt pavement, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has deter-
mined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon that
said Contract be awarded in accordance with applicable State laws,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: That Contract No. 385 is hereby approved by
the City Council of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to file in his office at the City Hall of the City
of Vernon a copy of Contract No. 385.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to give Notice, in writing, inviting sealed pro-
posals or bids for preventive maintenance of asphalt pavement, in
accordance with Contract No. 385, and in accordance with this
Resolution.
SECTION 4: There being no newspaper of general circulation
printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the
City C~rk is hereby directed to post said Notice, or cause the
same to be posted, in three (3) of the most public places in the
City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of 38th Street and
Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and
Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the
City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue
in said City.
SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon has

ascertained that the general prevailing rate of per diem wages
and the rates for legal holidays and for overtime work in the
locality in which the work is to be performed, described in
Contract No. 385, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic
needed to execute the Contract, which will be awarded to the
successful bidder, and that the general prevailing rate of per
diem wages and rates for legal holidays, for overtime work in
the locality of the execution of Contract No. 385, for each
craft, classification or type of workman or mechanic needed is
set forth in said Contract and incorporated by reference at this
point for all purposes as if set forth in full and hereby
approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon.
SECTION 6: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to post said Notice forthwith and the first
posting of said Notice shall be not less than ten (10) days be for
the opening of bids for the proposed work. That said Notice shal
provide that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the
City of Vernon, California, at the Office of the City Clerk of
said City at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon CA 90058
until the hour of two (2) o'clock P.M., on the 6th day of May,
1975, and in accordance with Contract No. 385 approved by said
City.

SECTION 7: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 15th day of April, 1975.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTE-
NANCE OF ASPHALT PAVEMENT, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 385
OF THE CITY OF VERNON
Pursuant to Resolution No. 4319 of the City of Vernon,
adopted on the 15th day of April, 1975, directing same, notice is
hereby given that sealed proposals or bids will be received by the
City of Vernon, California, at the office of the City Clerk of
said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon CA 90058
until the hour of two (2) 0' clock P.M., on the 6th daycf May, 1975
for Preventive Maintenance of Asphalt Pavement, in accordance with
Contract No. 385, approved by said City. The proposals will be
publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers of the City Hall
located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Verno~California, on the date an
at the time above mentioned. Specifications and contract document
may be obtained at the above-mentioned office of the City Clerk
upon payment of a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) for each speci-
fication.
The construction to be done and materials to be furnished
under said Contract No. 385 are approximately as follows:
Construct variable thickness A.C. Pavement 930 tons
Header cutting 3,810 line ft.
Area cutting 20,200 sq. ft.
Raise manhole frames and covers 22 each

1 Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the
2 provisions of Sections 1770-1781, inclusive, of the Labor Code
3 of the State of California, the City Council of the City of
4 Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem
5 wages and rates for legal holidays and for overtime work in the
6 locality in which this work is to be performed, for each craft or
7 type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which

10 is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
11 Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may
12 submit with their bids a sworn statement of their financial
13 responsibility, technical ability and experience. Such sworn
14 statement may be required before award is made to any particular
15 bidder.
16 To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted
17 pursuant to this notice shall be made out on a form to be
18 obtained at the Office of the Director of Public Works, shall" be
19 accompanied by a certified check, draft, or bid bond, payable at
20 a bank authorized to do business in the State of California,
21 made payable at sight to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon,
22 in an amount equal to ten per cent (10%) of the bid submitted,
23 shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon in a
24 sealed envelope at, or before, the time stated herein, and must
25 be plainly marked "Proposal, for Contract No. 385 ".
26 The above-mentioned check or bond shall be given as a
27 guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded
28 to him and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder
2'9 refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of the required" form
30 after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City of
31 Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to
32 furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty

per cent (50%) of the contract price, and a faithful perfonnance
bond in an amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the
contra'ct price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may with-
draw his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set
for the opening thereof.
A deposit of ten dollars (S10.00) will be required to
secure the Plans and Specifications, as a guarantee that the
Plans and Specifications 1;.,1i 11 be returned, which deposit will be
refunded in case same are returned to the City in good condition
not later than thirty (30) days after the bids on the work will
have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and
all bids or waive any infonnality in the bi.d.
