Resolution No. 4357 "" . 1 RESOLUTION NO. 4357 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, CONSENTING TO THE DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN lEAL PROPERTY FROM THE CITY :3 OF VERNON AND THE ANNEXATION OF SAID PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF LOS 4 ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. 5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 6 WHEREAS, the City of Los Angeles is desirous of annexing 7 the following described territory presently in the City of Vernon 8 in accordance with the alternative procedure for transfer of ter- 9 ritory from one city to a contiguous city, which procedure is con- 10 tained in the State Government Code, being Article 8, Division 1, 11 Title 5 of the Government Code; and 12 WHEREAS, the territory hereinafter described is a three- 13 fourths of an acre triangular shaped narrow strip of land which 14 consists of the front few feet of ten large lots which are mostly 15 within the City of Los Angeles; and 16 WHEREAS, all municipal services can be supp lied by the 17 City of Los Angeles; and 18 WHEREAS, the property line on the north side of 25th 19 Street is a visually distinguishable line which could serve as the 20 common boundary between the two cities; and 21 22 WHEIEAS, said territory is uninhabited; and WHEREAS, it would be in the public interest and to the 23 interests of both the City of Los Angeles and the City of Vernon 24 if said territory were to be detached from the City of Vernon and 25 annexed to the City of Los Angeles; 26 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Vernon, 27 California, does hereby resolve as follows: 28 SECTION 1: That pursuant to Section 50190 of the 29 Government Code, the City Council of the City of Vernon, Califor- 30 nia, hereby consents to the detachment of the following described 31 territory from the City of Vernon, to wit: :32 "That portion of Block B~ Huntington Industrial Tract, -1- 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 :32 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 per map recorded in Book 6, page 10 of Map s, together with ParcelsB and D. P.M. L.A. No. 2912, per map filed in Book 51, page 73 of Parcel Maps, all in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County, bounded and described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the northerly line of Twenty-Fifth Street with the easterly line of Alameda Street as shown on the map of Tract No. 24393 recorded in Book 641, pages 1 to 4 inclusive of Maps, in the office of said County Recorder; thence northerly along said easterly line to that certain Los Angeles City boundary line established August 29, 1859; thence easterly along said City boundary line to the intersection of said northerly line with the westerly line of Santa Fe Avenue; as shown on said last~mentioned map; thence westerly along said northerly line to the point of beginning." SECTION 2: That this consent is given solely upon con- dition that said territory be promptly annexed to the City of Los Angeles and shall be wholly ineffective unless such area is so annexed to said City. SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
