5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
RESOLUTION NO. 4374
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON ADOPTING
REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE. PERTAINING TO
MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORATE FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
AND THE.COSTS THEREOF
6 WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State
7 of California authorizes the governing body of any local agency
8 to adopt regulations pertaining to materials prepared by any
9 candidate for a municipal election , including costs thereof;
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon autho-
rizes any candidate for local office to submit to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon a statement of each candidate which may
include the name, age and occupation of the candidate and a brief
description of no more than two hundred (200) words of the
candidate's education and qualifications expressed by the candi-
date him or her self. Said statement shall not include the party
affiliation of the candidate nor membership nor activity in
partisan political organizations.
SECTION 2: Said statement shall be filed in the Office of
the City Clerk no later than the sixtieth (60th) day before the
election.
SECTION 3: Said statement shall be submitted to the elec-
torate in accordance with the appropriate Sections of the Elections
Code of the State of California by way of a voter's pamphlet
together with a Spanish translation to those candidates who wish
to have one. in accordance with said Elections Code.
SECTION 4: The costs of printing said candidate's statement.
together with the costs of the translator, shall be borne by the
candidate in the amount paid for by the City of Vernon, together
with ten percent (10%) additional administrative costs.
SECTION 5: No other materials may be sent to the electorate

other than those materials provided for in this Resolution.
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect and a copy
of this Resolution shall be provided to each candidate or his/her
representative at the time he or she picks up the nomination
papers.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of December. 1975.
