RESOLUTION NO. 4390
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON OPPOSING
ASSEMBLY BILL 2599
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2599 has been introduced before the
California State Assembly changing the voting strength, as provided
in the Transit District Law for City Selection Committee members
of the Southern California Rapid Tr~it District, and
WHEREAS, said Bill would change the voting strength from
assessed valuation to voting based upon population, and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon while having a small population
has approximately 60,000 people coming into said City each day for
purposes of employment, and
WHEREAS, rapid transit is of vital interest to the City of
Vernon and other similarly situated cities, regardless of popula-
tion, in that rapid transit would aid an already declining employ-
ment picture,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon urges the
defeat of Assembly Bill 2599 within the Assembly of the State of
California.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the I.,
same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED AND APPR.OVED this 2nd day of March, 1916.
