THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: '
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of
the City of Vernon, specifications and contract documents for

Contract No. 368 for the Ross Street Cons:truction, South of 38th
Street; and
WH~REAS, the City Council does hereby approve said spec i-
fications and contract documents and hereby determines that it is
in the best interest of the City of Vernon that said Contract be

SECTION 1: That the specifications and contract documents
for Contract No. 368, Ross Street Construction, South of 38th

SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file
in his office at the City Hall a copy of the specifications and

SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon has
8 ascertained and fixed the general prevailing rate of 'per diem wages
9 and'the rates for legal holidays and for overtime work in the
10 locality in which the work is to be performed, described in Contrac
11 documents for Contract No. 368, for each craft or type of workman
12 or mechanic needed to execute the Contract, which will be awarded'
13 to the successful bidder; the same are the minimum wages to be
14 said succ~ssful bidder and they are Set forth in said contract
15 docwnentsand by this reference incorporated herein at this point
16 for all purposes as if set forth in full and hereby approved by
17 the City Council.

SECTION 6: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to post
said Notice forthwith and the first posting of said Notice shall
not be less ,than ten (10) days before the opening of bids for the

proposed work.

City, a copy of ""hich may be secured from the Director of Public
Works.

Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the provisions of Sectio!1S
.1770-1781, inclusive, of the Labor Code of the State of California, the City
Council of the City of Vernon has ascertained the general prevailing rate of
per diem wages and rates for legal holidays and for overtime work in the
locality in which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of work-
man or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the
successful bidder, and that Resolution No. H:i"Oof the City of Vernon establishes
s aid rates, and is on file with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon.
Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit with their bids a
sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical ability and experience.
Such sworn statement may be required before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pursuant to this notice
shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the Office of the Director of Public
Works; shall be accompanied by a certified check, draft or bid bond, payable at
a bank authorized to do business in the State of California, made payable at sight
to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, in an amount equal to ten per cent (10%)
of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of Vernon in
a sealed envelope at, or before, the time stated herein, and must be plainly
marked "Proposal for Contract No. "5(;,8. "
The above-mentioned check or bond Shall be given as a guarantee that the
bidder will enter into a contract if awarded to him and will be declared forfeited
if the succ,essful bidder refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of the
required form after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City of
Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a labor
and material bond in an amount equal to fifty per cent (50%) of the Contract price,
and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred per cent
(100%) of the Contract price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his bid for a
period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the openiI1..g thereof.
A ~eposit of ten dollars ($10.00) will be required to secure the Plans and
SpecifiCations, as a guarantee that the Plans and Specifications will be returned,
which deposit will be refunded in case same are returned to the City in good
condition not later than thirty (30) days after the bids on the work will have been
opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and all bids or i,vaive
any informality in the bid.
