1 RESOLUTION NO. 4505
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES
3 FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE, PERTAINING TO MATERIALS
SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORATE FOR MUNICIPAL
4 ELECTIONS AND THE COSTS THEREOF; AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 4374 AND ANY AND ALL OTHER
5 RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH
6 WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the
7 State of California authorizes the governing body of any local
8 agency to adopt regulations pertaining to materials prepared
9 by any candidate for a municipal election, including the costs
10 thereof;
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
12 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
14 authorizes any candidate for local office to submit to the
15 City Clerk of the City of Vernon a statement of each candidate
16 which may include the name, age and occupation of the candidate
17 and a brief description of no more than two hundred (200) words
18 of the candidate's education and qualifications expressed by
19 the candidate him or her self. Said statement shall not in-
20 c1ude the party affiliation of the candidate nor membership
21 nor activity in partisan political organizations.

SECTION 2: Said statement shall be filed in the Office
23 of the City Clerk at the same time nomination papers are filed.

SECTION 3: Said statement shall be submitted to the
25 electorate in accordance with the appropriate Sections of the
26 Elections Code of the State of California by way of a voter's
27 pamphlet together with a Spanish translation to those candidates
28 who wish to have one, in accordance with said Elections Code.

SECTION 4: The costs of printing said candidate's
2 statement, together with the costs of the translator, shall be
3 borne by the candidate in the amount paid for by the City of
4 Vernon, together with ten percent (10%) additional administra-
5 tive costs.

SECTION 5: No other materials may be sent to the
7 electorate other than those materials provided for in this
8 Resolution.
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect and a
copy of this Resolution shall be provided to each candidate or
his/her representative at the time he or she picks up their
nomination papers.
