1 RESOLUTION NO. 4529
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON APPROVING THE PROPOSED
3 AGREEMENT WITH THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
JOINT POWERS INSURANCE AUTHORITY AND
4 AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION THEREOF
5 WHEREAS, various cities within the County of Los
6 Angeles have formed the Southern California Joint Powers
7 Insurance Authority; and
8 WHEREAS~ the purpose of forming said insurance
9 authority was to obtain and provide insurance coverage which
10 would be more reasonable than existing-coverage available; and
11 WHEREAS, the City ClerklDirector of Finance has
12 attended the pre-organization meetings connected with the form-
13 ation of the Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Auth-
14 ori ty; and
15 WHEREAS, the City Clerk/Director of Finance, presents
16 the proposed agreement for execution and has indicated that
17 due to the current state of the insurance market, it is the
18 best possible method of providing the City with insurance
19 coverage as opposed to being completely self-insured.
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
21 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of
23 Vernon does hereby approve and authorize the execution of the
24 Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority Agreement
25 and the City's participation in the Joint Powers Insurance
26 Authority Program.

SECTION 2:
That the Mayor is hereby authorized to
28 execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the City Council.

That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
SECTION 3:
2 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
3 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
4 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of January,
5 1978.
