RESOLUTION NO. 4531
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON CO~~1ENDING GLFNWOOD ASHBY ON HIS
MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF VERNON

WHEREAS, GLENWOOD ASHBY has been employed by the City
of Vernon since February 6, 1946; and
WHEREAS, GLENWOOD ASHBY will retire from the service
of the City of Vernon on February 6, 1978; and
WHEREAS, GLENWOOD ASHBY has faithfully served as an
employee since February 6,1946 and has served as Construction
Inspector since May 1, 1970 and his loss will he deeply felt by
the City of Vernon;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
15 takes this opportunity to commend GLENWOOD ASHBY for his many
16 years of devoted service to the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
18 wishes GLENWOOD ASHBY continued success in whatever endeavors he
19 may understake.

SECTION 3: That ,the City Clerk of the City of ,Vernon
21 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and present a
22 certified copy hereof to GLENWOOD ASHBY, and that thereupon and
23 thereafter, the same shall be in full force and effect.
24 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of February,

ful, capable and loyal service to the City and the inhabitants
thereof.
You have been a valued and respected employee of the
City of Vernon since February 6, 1946.
The City of Vernon desires to place upon its official
records a letter of appreciation and commendation for the many
years of devoted service rendered by you as an employee of the
Engineering Department and the City Council has, at its meeting
held February 7, 1978, approved and adopted Resolution No. 4531,
cpmmending you, the original of which is enclosed herewith.

Gentlemen:
Enclosed is letter dated January 25,1978, signed
by Glenwood Ashby, Construction Inspector, advising
that his application to retire has been approved
effective close of business, February 6, 1978.
Mr. Ashby's work with the City began on February
6, 1946 asa semi-skilled laborer for $6.00 per day.
He was classified as Foreman on January 1, 1961 and has
served as Construction Inspector since May 1, 1970.
Mr. Ashby has served the City excellently in a
variety of positions for the past thirty two years.
