RESOLUTION NO. 4552
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF
THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID
CITY OF VERNON ON THE 7TH DAY OF MARCH, 1978,
DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW
6 WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was held
7 and conducted in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State
8 of California, on Tuesday, the 7th day of March, 1978, as required
9 by law; and
10 WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly
11 given in time, form and manner as provided by law; that absentee
,
12 ballots were properly sent to all registered voters; that a
13 canvass board was properly appointed and that in all respects
14 said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat,
15 received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time,
16 form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections
17 Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in
18 cities; and
19 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 4540, adopted on
20 the 21st day of February, 1978, the City Clerk of the City of
21 Vernon canvassed the returns of said election and has certified
22 the results to this City Council, said results are received,
23 attached and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A" i
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
25 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That there was one (1) voting precinct
27 established for the purpose of holding said election consisting
28 of consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of

1 Vernon as established for the holding of State and County elec-
2 tions.

SECTION 2: That said regular general municipal election
4 was held for the purpose of electing the following officers of
5 said City as required by laws relating to cities in the State of
6 California, to wit:
7 Three (3) members of the City Council of said City
8 for the full term of four (4) years.

SECTION 3: That the whole number of votes cast by
10 absentee ballot in said City was fifty-n,wo (52).

SECTION 4: That the names of persons voted for at said
12 election for Member of the City Council of said City are as
13 follows:

LEONIS C. MALBURG
WILLIAM M. MCCORMICK
THOMAS A. YBARRA
That the number of votes given at each precinct and
the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons
above named for the respective offices for which said persons
were candidates are listed in Exhibit "A" attached.
SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
22 declare and determine that:
23 LEONIS C. MALBURG was elected as Member of the City
24 Council of said City for the full term of four (4) years; and
25 WILLIAM M. MCCORMICK was elected as Member of the City
26 Council of said City for the full term of four (4) years; and

27 THOMAS A. YBARRA was elected as Member of the City
28 Council of said City for the full term of four (4) years;

SECTION 6: The City Clerk shall enter on the records of
2 the City Council of said City, a statement of the result of said
3 election, showing;

(1) The total number of votes cast in the City;
(2) The names of the persons for whom votes were made;
( 3) For what office each person was voted;
(4 ) The number of votes for each person given at the
8 precinct;
9
(5) The number of votes given in the City to each
10 person.

SECTION 7: That the City Clerk shall immediately make
12 and, upon compliance by the persons elected with the provisions
13 of Section 11550 and Section 11559 of the Elections Code of the
14 State of California, shall deliver to each of such persons so
15 elected a Certificate of Election signed by him and duly authenti-
16 cated; that he shall also administer to each person elected, the
17 Oath of Office prescribed in the State Constitution of the State
18 of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the
19 same in his office. Whereupon, each and all of said persons so
20 elected shall be inducted into the respective office to which
21 they have been elected.

SECTION 8: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the ?assage of this Resolution and thereupon and there-
after the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 14th day of March, 1978.
