A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
AND DEFINING THE DUTIES OF SAID COMMITTEE

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
6
heretofore by minute order established a Personnel Committee and
7
appointed members of the City Council to said Committee; and,
8
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to
9
formally establish a committee known as the Personnel COmmittee
10
of the City of Vernon; and,
11
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to define
12
the duties of said Committee and to appoint a secretary therefor.

NOW', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
14
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council hereby establishes a
16
committee known as the Personnel Committee and said Committee
17
shall henceforth be referred to as the Personnel Committee of
18
the City of Vernon.

SEcTI'ON 2; Th,at Counc;i.lmen Kaeser, Ybarra and Malburg ,

previously, appointed to said Committee are. hereby appointed and
shall act as th.e Personnel, Committe.e, 9f the City of Vernon until
21

th,eir successors are appointed during the normal reorgan;i.:?:at;i.on
23
of the Council which is provided for in Government Code. ~36801.

SE.CTION 3:
The duties of ?aid Comm;i.tte~ are that said
25

Committee sh,all have full power to consider all pers()nnel questions
relating to any department of th~ City of Vernon. All personnel
27
matters relating to any department of the City of Vernon shall be
28
referred to said Committee for recommendation and all studies,

investigations, etc., in relation to any personnel recommendations
2
shall be referred to said Committee for its consideration p~ior to
3
being submitted to the City of Vernon for action and that said
4
Committee shall represent the City Council of the City of Vernon
5
in respect to personnel matters during the time the City Council
6
is not in session.

SECTION 4: The City Administrator for the City of
8
Vernon shall be the secretary for said Committee and shall perform
9
all secretarial duties relating thereto.

SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon
11
hereby establishes that the Personnel Committee shall meet at
12
2:00 p.m. on the Monday preceding the first regularly scheduled
13
City Council meeting of every month.
14
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
15
certify to the passage of this Resolution thereupon and thereafter
16
the same shall be in full force and effect.
17
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of May, 1979.

Vernon, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, being
Resolution No. 4648 , was duly adopted by the City Council
of the City of Vernon, and was approved by the Mayor of said
City at a regular meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday
May 15, 19' 79.
