A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO
RENDER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO SAID CITY RELATING
TO THE CONDUCT OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8,
1980, AND AMENDING SECTION 4 OF RESOLUTION NO.
4690 TO PROVIDE THAT THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN
FROM 7:00 A.M. TO 7:00 P.M. OF SAID DAY

8 WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held in
9 the City of vernon, California, on April 8, 1980; and,
10 WHEREAS, in the course of conduct of said election and
11 in relation the~eto it will be necessary to mail sample ballots
12 and polling place inserts to the registered voters of the City,
13 and it will facilitate such mailing if the Registrar of Voters
14 of the County of Los Angeles will prepare and furnish the City the
15 imprinting of the names and addresses of the registered voters
16 of said City on polling place inserts furnished by the City, and
17 after bursting the forms will insert the polling place insert and
18 sample ballot into envelopes, all to be furnished by the City,
19 wil1 place all envelopes in zip-coded mail bags, advise the City
20 Clerk of the number of pieces to be mailed, prepare PS Form 3602,
21 "Statement of Mailing Matter With Permit Imprints", and advise the
22 City Clerk when work is complete so delivery can be arranged; and,
23 WHEREAS, all necessary expense in performing this service
24 shall be paid by the City of Vernon; and,
25 WHEREAS, Section 4 of Resolution No. 4690 provides that
26 the polls for said election shall be open from 7:00 a.m. through
27 5:30 p.m.; and~
28 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon is

1 desires to extend the hours for which said polls shall be open
2 so that said polls shall be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
4 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
5 SECTION 1: That pursuant to the provisions of S22003 of
6 the Elections Code of the State of California, this City Council
7 hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of said County to permit
8 the Registrar of Voters to prepare and furnish to said City for
9 use in conducting said election to be held on April 8, 1980, the
10 imprinting of the names and addresses of the registered voters of
11 said City on polling place inserts furnished by the City and after
12 bursting the forms to insert the polling place insert and sample
13 ba110t into envelopes, all to be furnished by the City, will place
14 all envelopes in zip-coded mail bags, advise the City Clerk of the
15 number of pieces to be mailed, prepare PS Form 3602, llStatement
16 of Mailing Matter With Permit Imprints", and advise the City Clerk

18 SECTION 2: That said City shall reimburse said County
19 for services performed when the work is completed and upon
20 presentation to the City of a properly approved bill.
21 SECTION 3: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to
22 forward without delay to said Board of Supervisors and to said
23 Registrar of Voters, each a certified copy of this Rese1ution.
24 SECTION 4: That the polls for the election to be held
25 in the City of Vernon on Tuesday, April 8, 1980 shall be open at
26 7:00 a.m. of the day of said election and shall close at'7:00 p.m.
27 of the same day, except as provided in S14301 of the Elections
28 Code of the State of California.
