A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING PURCHASING DEPARTMENT
QUOTATION NO. 11,42 AND AUTHORIZING NOTICE
INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR THE
SALE OF A 1954 FIRE ENGINE, CROWN PUMPER, AS
SURPLUS PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE
VERNON CITY CODE IN ACCORDANCE WITH PURCHASING
DEPARTMENT QUOTATION NO. 1142 OF THE CITY OF
VERNON

WHEREAS, Bruce V. Ma1kenhorst, City Administrator, has
9
recommended to the City Council of the City of Vernon under the
10

date of January 28, 1980 that a 1954 Fire Engine, Crown Pumper,
be sold as surplus pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City
12
Code in accordance with the recommendation of Frank Murillo, the
13
Purchasing Agent, that the estimated value of said Fire Engine
14
exceeds the informal bid limit in the purchasing ordinance and
15
requires a formal bid; and
16
WHEREAS, George F. Bass, Fire Chief of the City of
17
Vernon, has indicated that said 1954 Fire Engine,-CrownPumper, is
18
surplus to the fire fighting needs of the City of Vernon by
19
communication dated November 15, 1979; and
20
21
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Vernon
22
that said 1954 Fire Engine, Crown Pumper, be sold as surplus
23
pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code and that sealed
24
proposals or bids be solicited in accordance with said Purchasing
25
Department Quotation No. 1142 of the City of Vernon.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
27
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
1 finds and determines that said 1954 Fire Engine, Crown Pumper, is
2 surplus to the fire fighting needs of the City of Vernon.
3 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
4 approves Purchasing Department Quotation No. 1142.
5 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
6 hereby directed to file in his office at the City Hall of the City
7 of Vernon a copy of said Purchasing Department Quotation No. 1142.
8 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
9 hereby directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed pro-
10 posa1s or bids for the sale of the 1954 Fire Engine, Crown Pumper,
11 as surplus pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code, in
12 accordance with Purchasing Department Quotation No. 1142 and in
13 accordance with this Resolution.
14 SECTION 5: There being no newspaper of general circula-
15 tion printed, published or circulated in the City of Vernon, the
16 City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or to cause the
17 same to be posted, in three of the most public places in the City
18 of Vernon, to wit: The Northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa
19 Fe Avenue, the Northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific
20 Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall
21 of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said
22 City.
23 SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
24 hereby directed to post said notice forthwith and the first
25 posting of said notice shall not be less than ten (10) days before
26 the ope~ing of the bids for the proposed Purchasing Department
27 Quotation No. 1142. Said notice shall provide that sealed
28 proposals or bids will be received by the City of Vernon at the

1 office of the City Clerk of the City of Vernon, at the City Hall,
2 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California 90058, until the hour of
3 2:00 p.m. on March 4, 1980, and in accordance with Purchasing
4 Department Quotation No. 1142 approved by said City.

SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
6 certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
7 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
8 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of February, 1980.
