A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE
MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE
OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND THE VERNON POLICE
OFFICERS' BENEFIT ASSOCIATION (EMPLOYEE
GROUP 2) (AUGUST 23, 1979 AS AMENDED ON
DECEMBER 9, 1979)

WHEREAS, th.e Vernon Police Officers' Benefit Association

has be.en recognized as an employee organization, pursuant to

Resolution No. 4027 o~ the City Council of the City of Vernon,

anq h~ve met and conferred with the Municipal Employee Relations

Re~resentative of the City of Vernon; and
WHE~EAS, members of the Vernon Police Officers' Benefit
A,~soGiation, representing Employee Group 2 had executed a
Memorand~ o~ Understanding with the Municipal Employee Relations

Representative of the City of Vernon, covering the period

WH$~EA,~, the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant
to Res9;I,~tion No. 4667 approved said Memorandum of Understanding;

1979 amending Article 11 of said Memorandum of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, members of the Vernon Police Officers' Benefit

Association representing Employee Group 2 have jointly met with
the Municipal Employee Relations Representative of the City of
1 Vernon and pursuant to said meeting and conferring have executed
2 an Amendment to said Memorandum of Understanding amending Article
3 11 of said Memorandum of Understanding; and
4 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon does
5 hereby approve said Amendment to said Memorandum of Understanding.
6 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
7 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
9 does hereby approve and ratify the Amendment to Memorandum of
10 Understanding between the Municipal Employee Relations Representa-
11 tive of the City of Vernon and the Vernon Police Officers' Benefit
12 Associa tion (Employee Group 2).

SECTION 2: That the approval and ratification set forth
14 herein are subject to all the terms, covenants and conditions
15 coptained in said Amendment to said Memorandum of Understanding.
16
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
17 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
18 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
19 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of April, 1980.

AMENDMENT TO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BET\'JEEN THE
MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE
OF THE
CITY OF VERNON
AND THE
VERNON POLICE OFFICERS' BENEFIT ASSOCIATION
(Employee Group 2)
(December 9, 1979)
The Municipal Employee Relations Representative of the
City of Vernon (hereinafter "MERR" and "Vernon" respectively) and
the Vernon Police Officers' Benefit Association (hereinafter
called "Police Association") hereby agree to jointly recorrunend
to the City Council of Vernon for approval by resolution the
Amendments hereinafter set forth to the Memorandum of Under-
standing between them dated August 23, 1979:
1. Article 11 is hereby amended by the addition of
Section 11.7.
2. Article 11, Section 11.7 provides as follows:
"11.7 All employees who are eligible to receive
compensatory time off pursuant to the provisions
of Article 11, Sections 11.1 through and including
11.6, shall be eligible to select one of the
following optional methods of compensation for

time earned during the period from

December 9, 1979 through and including
3
February 29, 1980.

11.7.1 Option 1

An employee may receive overtime pay at
6
said employees regular rate of pay during
7
said period.

11.7.2 Option 2
9
An employee may accumulate as compensatory
time off at a straight time rate a total not
to exceed twenty-four (24) hours during said
period and said accumulated compensatory time
off must be taken prior to June 30, 1980.
11.7.3 Option 3
An employee may receive compensation in
accordance with Sections 11.1 through 11.6
during said period."
3. The foregoing Amendments shall become effective
20 on December 9, 1979 upon the approval and ratification of the
21 City Council of Vernon, during its regularly scheduled meeting
22 of Decemb~r 18, 1979.
