Resolution No. 4792 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 RESOLUTION NO. 4792 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AMENDING SECTION 9 OF RESOLUTION NO. 4748 PROVIDING FOR THE DUTIES AND SALARIES OF OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY AND FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION WHEREAS, Resolution No. 4748 was adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon on July 15, 1980; and WHEREAS, Schedules II and V of Resolution No. 4748 were previously amended by Resolution No. 4767 which was adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon on January 6, 1981; an WHEREAS, Schedule V of Resolution No. 4748 was previously amended by Resolution No. 4775 which was adopted by the City Council of the City of Vernon on March 3, 1981; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon intends to establish a policy regarding emploYment of persons who have a military obligation for all departments of the City of Vernon. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon 20 does hereby find and determine that the recitals containedherei - 21 above are true and correct. 22 23 of Resolution No. 4748 shall be amended by adding the following: SECTION 2: That effective April 21, 1981, Section 9 24 25 26 27 28 "SECTION 9: The City Council hereby makes the following statem~nt. of policy relative. to salaries and classifications set forth in the Resolution: . . . (g) Applicants for a position in all 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 departments will not be considered for employment if they are active members of the U.S. Army Reserve, or the National Guard or the Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, or the u.s. Navy, and are required to attend weekend drills and annual tours of active training. This policy does not apply to applicants for a position in all departments who have completed their military commitment and are on inactive reserve status and applicants who could be activated or drafted as a result of a national emergency after their employment." SECTION 3: That in all other particulars, Resolution 15 No. 4748 shall remain in full force and effect and that any 16 resolution not consistent with or in conflict with this 17 Resolution is hereby repealed. 18 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is 19 hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Resolution and 20 following said certification this Resolution shall be in full 21 force and effect. 22 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of April, 1981. 23 24 25 26 27 28 ATTEST: ~.r~~ o A.
