RESOLUTION NO. 4829
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF EXCEL PAVING
COMPANY FOR SOTO STREET, 26TH STREET AND 50TH
STREET IMPROVEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT
NO. 440 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AND APPROVING
THE EXECUTION OF SAID CONTRACT
WHEREAS, Contract No. 440 of the City of Vernon was
approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to
Resolution No. 4826, and sealed bids were opened on August 4,
1981; and
WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Arthur E. Nelson,
Director of Community Services and Victor H. Vaits, Deputy
Director of Community Services has reported to the City Council
on behalf of Mr. Nelson under the date of August 5, 1981
recommending that the contract for Soto Street, 26th Street and
50th Street improvement be executed with Excel Paving Company on
the basis of its bid in the sum of Two Hundred and Three Thousand
Five Hundred and Thirty-Three Dollars and Ninety Cents
($203,533.90), being the lowest responsible bid meeting the
contract requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
hereby award Contract No. 440, in accordance with the recommenda-
tion of Victor H. Vaits, Deputy Director of Community Services,
on behalf of Arthur E. Nelson, Director of Community Services,
and authorizes the Mayor to execute said contract on behalf of
the City.

SECTION 2: All other bids are rejected and the City
2 Treasurer is hereby directed to return to unsuccessful bidders
3 any cashier or certified checks deposited with said bids upon
4 the receipt of an executed contract from Excel Paving Company
5 accompanied by all required bonds and certificates.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
7 certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
8 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
9 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of August, 1981.
