RESOLUTION NO. 4873
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION OF CLEAN
WATER ACT FUNDING
5 WHEREAS, the United States Congress has enacted and
6 the President has signed the Municipal Wastewater Treatment
7 Construction Grant Amendments of 1981 (H.R. 4503); and
8 WHEREAS, said Act authorizes a continuation of federal
9 grant funding of water pollution control and water reclamation
10 facilities; and
11 WHEREAS, there is an urgent need in the Los Angeles
12 basin for federal funds to continue and complete partially
13 funded programs of water pollution control and water reclamation;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, in order to achieve adequate fede~al funding
16 on a nationwide basis, it is necessary that Congress appropriate
17 2.4 billion dollars ($2,400,000,000) for the fiscal year 1982.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
19 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
21 hereby urges President Ronald Reagan to request the United
22 States Congress to appropriate 2.4 billion dollars
23 ($2,400,000,000) to provide federal funding of the Municipal
24 Wastewater Treatment Construction Grant Amendments of 1981 for
25 the fiscal year 1982.

SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
27 hereby requests the United States Congress to authorize this
28 level of appropriation at the earli~st possible date.

SECTION 3: That the City Cl~rk of the City of Vernon
2 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution
3 and thereafter the same shall'be in full force and effect.
