RESOLUTION NO. 4882
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON DESIGNATING THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
AS ITS AGENT FOR SERVICE OF PROCESS FOR ACTIONS
UNDER THE REVENUE AND TAXATION CODE
WHEREAS, in past years the Ccunty cf Los Angeles,
through the Department cf the Ccunty Counsel, has represented
the City of Vernon in the complex area of property taxation
litigationi and
WHEREAS, with the approval of Assembly Bill 1211 in
1981, ~5149 of the Revenue and Taxation Code was amended and
now requires that before the County may represent a city it must
first be designated as the agent for service of process by said
city and that the County shall impose fees on a city which has
designated the county as its agent for service of process which
shall ccver the costs incurred pursuant to this sectioni and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Verncn wishes
to designate the County of Los Angeles as its agent for service
of process for acticns under the Revenue and Taxation Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Ccuncil of the City of Vernon
hereby designates the County of Los Angeles to receive service
of process for any and all actions brcught against the City cf
Vernon under Article 2, Chapter 5, Part 9, Division 1 cf the
California Revenue and Taxation Ccde.
SECTION 2: The city Clerk is hereby directed to. send a
certified copy of this Resolution to. the Los Angeles Ccunty
Clerk.

SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
2 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
3 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
4 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of March, 1982.
