RESOLUTION NO. 4933
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF FIVE CITY
VEHICLES AS SURPLUS PROPERTY PURSUANT TO
SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE
WHEREAS, L. A. Espinoza, Chief of Police, has
recommended to the City Administrator/City Clerk and to the City
Council of the City of Vernon that four police vehicles described
as follows are surplus to the Police Department's needs because
of excess mileage:
Unit #72 - 1979 Chevrolet, Black and White, 94,171 miles
Unit #73 - 1979 Chevrolet, Black and White, 92,380 miles
Unit #76 - 1980 Chevrolet, Black and ~Jhite, 64,729 miles
1971 Harley Davidson M-16 3-Wheel Motorcycle, 45,835
miles
and;
WHEREAS, George F. Bass, Fire Chief, has recommended
to the City Administrator/City Clerk and to the City Council of
the City of Vernon that one Fire Department vehicle described
as follows is surplus to the Fire Department's needs because
of excess mileage:
Car #3 - 1980 Plymouth, Red and White, 75,716 miles
and;
WHEREAS, Frank Murillo, Purchasing Agent, has
recommended that these five surplus City vehicles be disposed of
by public auction by the Ken Porter Auction Company on
September 26, 1982; and
WHEREAS, Bruce V. t~alkenhorst, City Administrator/City
Clerk has recommended to the City Council of the City of Vernon
1 under the date of August 12, 1982, that five City vehicles be
2 sold as surplus pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City
3 Code in accordance with the recommendations of L. A. Espinoza,
4 Chief of Police, George F. Bass, Fire Chief and Frank Murillo,
5 Purchasing Agent; and
6 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
7 determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Vernon
8 that said five City vehicles be sold as surplus pursuant to
9 Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code.
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
11 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
13 hereby-finds and determines that said five City vehicles, namely,
14 Units #72, 73, 76, Harley Davidson Motorcycle and Car #3, are
15 surplus to the needs of the Police Department and Fire Department
16 of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: That the City Administrator/City Clerk is
18 hereby authorized to contract with the Ken Porter Auction
19 Company for the sale of these five City vehicles on September 26,
20 1982, as surplus property.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
22 certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
23 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
