RESOLUTION NO. 4943
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR 1976
STATE GRANT MONEYS FOR MAYWOOD PARK PROJECT
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have
enacted the State~Urban, and Coastal Park Bond Act of 1976,
which provides funds to the State of California and its political
subdivisions for acquiring lands and for developing facilities
for public recreation and historical purposes; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation
has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of
the prog~am within the State, setting up necessary procedur~s
governing application by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State
Department of Parks and Recreation require the applicant to
certify by resolution the approval of applications prior to
submission of said applications to the State; and
WHEREAS, said applications contain assurances that the
applicant must .comply with; and
WHEREAS, the applicant agency will enter into an
agreement with the State of California for the acquisition
and/or development of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has a total of $10,000 from
the 1976 State, Urban and Coastal Park Bond Act fund which could
best be used by the Maywood Park Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Maywood has agreed to
and defend the City of Vernon, its officers, agents and employees
against any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses or .

1 liabilities arising out of the acquisition, development,
2 construction, operation and/or maintenance of the Maywood Park
3 Project.
4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
5 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
6 SECTION 1: T,he City Council of the City of Vernon
7 hereby approves the filing of an application by the City of
8 Maywoodas agent for the City of Vernon for 1976 state grant
9 assistance.
10 SECTION 2: The. City Council o~ the City of Vernon
11 hereby certifies that:
12 (a) The City of Vernon and the City of Maywood
13 understand the assurances in the application;
14 (b) The City of Maywooq has or will have sufficient
15 funds to operate and maintain the Project; and
16 (c) The City of Vernon and the City of Maywood have
17 reviewed and understand the general provisions contained in
18 the sample state/local agreement.
19 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
20 does hereby authorize the use of its allocation of $10,000 from
21 the 1976 State, Urban, and Coastal Park Bond Act by the City of
22 Maywood for the development of Maywood Park Project and approves
23 the appointment of the Chief Administrative Officer of the City
24 of Maywood as agent of the city to conduct all negotiations,
25 execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to,
26 the applications, agreements, amendments and payment requests
27 which may be necessary for the completion of 'the aforementioned
28 Project.

SECTION 4: That the Mayor is authorized to sign all
2 of the necessary and appropriate documents to implement the
3 filing of said application and to further the development of
4 joint park project.
5 SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernonsh.all
6 certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
7 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
8 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of September, 1982.
