RESOLUTION NO. 4956
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ESTABLISHING THE RATES FOR BUSINESS
LICENSE TAXES AND RELATED FEES AND DEPOSITS
PURSUANT TO SECTION 15.8 OF THE CODE OF THE
CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA 1959
6 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
7 Ordinance No. 931 which provides that business license fees shall
8 be set by resolution; and
9 WHEREAS, the City Council previously established
10 business license fees on December 4, 1980, as amended on
11 April 7, 1981; and
12 WHEREAS, the cost of living and general prices has
13 "been increased due to substantial inflation since April 7, 1981;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, the fees established herein reflect the
16 previous fees adjusted for the rate of inflation occurring
17 during the intervening time period.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
19 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of
21 Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
22 hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2: Business License Fees.
24 Every person doing business or engaged in any business,
25 profession, trade or occupation, or performing any act, or
26 otherwise dealing in or with goods, wares or merchandise, and
27 not elsewhere specifically licensed by other provisions of
28 Ordinance No. 931, shall pay a license fee for each calendar

7 SECTION 3: Central Station Industrial Protective
8 Service.
9 (a) Minimum license fee of $200.00 per annum which
10 sum is to be paid at the time of applying for or renewal of
11 the license;
12 (b) The licensee shall pay to the City of Vernon
13 2% of the gross receipts of business arising from licensee's
14 operations conducted in the City of Vernon, less the minimum
15 previously paid.
16 SECTION 4: License Fee for Auctioneers.
17 The sum of $115.00 per day.
18 SECTION 5: License Fees for Peddlers.
19 (a) $115.00 per year, or portion of year thereof;
20 (b) Any catering vehicle engaged in the preparation
21 and sale of hot food and drink items from said vehicle, the
22 sum of $150.00 per year;
23 (c) Any catering vehicle engaged in the preparation
24 and sale of cold food and drink items only from said vehicle,
25 the sum of $115.00 per year;
26 (d) Catering vehicles, not otherwise licensed,
27 operating in the City of Vernon to serve an auction or other
28 special event, shall pay the sum of $25.00 per day for each day

Every person employing 1,601 to 1,700 employees $ 2,575.00
Every person employing, 1,701 to 1,800 employees 2,725.00
Every person employing 1,801 to 1,900 employees 2,875.00
Every person employing 1,901 and more employees 3,030.00

1 of said operation;
2 (e) For every peddler who calls attention to his
3 wares, or advertises the same by use of music, entertainment,
4 speech, fancy or grotesque dress, or otherwise, upon any public
5 street, alley or other public place, doorway of any room or
6 building ,unenolo.sed or vaeant1ot, orpatcel or Iandwithinthe
7 City of Vernon, shall pay $455.00 per year, or any portion
8 thereof.

14 (a) Carrying on the business commonly known as junk or
15 scrap metal, the sum of $1,060.00 per year shall be paid;
16 (b) A secondhand rag or paper dealer shall pay the sum
17 of $680.00 per year;
18 (c) A secondhand pipe dealer shall pay the sum of
19 $1,060.00 per year.
20 SECTION 9: Shows, Circuses, Rodeos and Other Amusements.
21 (a) The sum of $150.00 per day for such show, circus,
22 rodeo, or other type of amusement;
23 (b) The sum of $75.00 per day for each sideshow for
24 which an admission fee is charged, and which is operated as a
25 side attraction to a show, circus, rodeo, or other type of
26 amusement licensed under subparagraph (a) above.
27 SECTION 10: Permit for Moving Structures.
28 The sum of $150.00 must be deposited with said City

SECTION 6 : Motion Picture Production.
The sum of $150.00 per day.
SECTION 7: Selling Fruits and Vegetables.
The sum of $115.00 per year, or portion of year thereof.
SECTION 8: Dealers in Junk, Metal" Rags, Paper, Etc.

Clerk, payable to the City of Vernon, for each and every
structure to be moved and a permit fee for each structure moved
into, in, or through the City of Vernon shall be paid in the sum
of $75.00.
SECTION 11: Used Car and Automobile Dealers Bond.
Applicant shall file with the City Clerk at the time
of filing said application, a bond executed to the City of
Vernon by a surety corporation duly authorized to do so, and
approved by the City Attorney in the sum of $3,000.00.
SECTION 12: Junk, Secondhand Metal, Rags, Paper,
Secondhand Steel, Pipe and Fittings Dealers' Bonds.
There shall be filed on behalf of said applicant, with
the City Clerk at the time of filing said application, a bond
executed on behalf of the City of Vernon by a surety corporation
duly authorized to execute same, said bond being subject to
approval by the City Attorney, in the sum of $3,000.00.
SECTION 13: That in addition to the foregoing, the
licensee or permitee shall pay all other necessary fees or
deposits which may be required by other ordinances or
resolutions of the City of Vernon or applicable State laws in
effect.
SECTION 14: That the fees provided for herein shall
be effective January 1, 1983, and all other resolutions in
conflict with this Resolution are hereby repealed.

SECTION 15: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of December, 1982.
