RESOLUTION NO. 5008
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF AN
INTERRUPTIBLE TRANSMISSION SERVICE AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND THE DEPARTMENT
OF WATER AND POWER OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES
AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 4995
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon purchases power and energy
from the Southern California Edison Company pursuant to tariff
schedules approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has entered into an
integrated agreement to permit the purchase of economy energy
from Nevada Power Company; and
WHEREAS, Vernon and Nevada Power Company have had
problems transmitting energy on the Edison transmission system;

WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Power of the City
of Los Angeles owns and maintains transmission lines which would
enable Vernon and Nevada Power Company to make additional
economy energy transactions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby determines that the recitals contained hereinabove are
true and correct.
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby approves the Interruptible Transmission Service Agreement,
a copy of which has been presented to the City Council con-
1 currently with this Resolution and the City Council hereby orders
2 said Agreement to be received and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
4 hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said
5 Agreement for, and on behalf. of, the City of Vernon.

SECTION 3: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
7 hereby repeals Resolution 4995.

SECTION 4: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
9 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
10 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
11 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of June, 1983.
