RESOLUTION NO. 5049
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 VERNON ENCOURAGING REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY ORGANIZATIONS IN THE CITY
4 OF VERNON COMMUNITY TO ATTEND THE "BUSINESS
AND INDUSTRY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE"
5 ON OCTOBER 14, 1983
6 WHEREAS, the threat of a major disaster is a priority
7 concern of all cities; and.
8 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon supports all efforts to
9 help the business and industry organizations in the City of
10 Vernon community to be better prepared and be more able to deal
11 with the occurrence of a. major disaster; and
12 WHEREAS, the Area "E" Office of Emergency Planning is
13 striving to improve emergency preparedness in local communities;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, the AREA "E" Office of Emergency Planning
16 maintains aBoard comprised of representatives from twenty-two
17 participating jurisdictions and the City of Vernon is represented

18 on the Board; and
19 WHEREAS, on Friday, October 14, 1983, the Area "E"
20 Office of Emergency Planning will be sponsoring a long needed
21 conference entitled the "BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY EMERGENCY
22 PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE", which will be held at the Santa Fe
23 Springs Town Hall Plaza from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and
24 1iHEREAS, the Conference will provide to representatives
25 from business and industry the vital information. concerning the
26 following subjects: insurance; building preparedness; emergency
27 financial procedures; managing hazardous/toxic materials; first
28 aid; property security; communications; and training employees.
1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE' CITY COUNCIL OF THE
2 CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
4 does hereby encourage representatives of the business and
5 industry organizations in the City of Vernon community to attend
6 the "BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE"
7 on October 14, 1983.

SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of October, 1983.
