RESOLUTION NO. 5054
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON OPPOSING THE BUSING OF VERNON CITY
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS, WHO ARE RESIDENTS
OF THE CITY OF VERNON, TO RELIEVE OVERCROWDING
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles Unified School District
is seeking to relieve the overcrowding condition in the Vernon
City Elementary School by proposing to bus students residing
in the City of Vernon to another city; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes
to oppose said busing as not being in the best interests of the
City of Vernon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
finds and determines that the recitals contained hereinabove
are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
does hereby express its total opposition to the busing of
Vernon City Elementary School students, who are residents of
the City of Vernon, to another city.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the
Los Angeles Unified School District and to each legislative
representative of the City of Vernon.

SECTION 4: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
2 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
3 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
4 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of October, 1983.
