RESOLUTION NO. 5082
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
3 OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT TO THE OFFICES OF THIS CITY THAT
4 WERE TO BE ELECTED ON TUESDAY, APRIL 10, 1984
5 WHEREAS, pursuant to S22843.5 of the Elections Code of
6 the State of California, as of 5 p.m. on February 7, 1984, only
7 one person has been nominated for each office in this city and
8 that Section 22843.5 of the Elections Code allows one of the
9 following courses of action to be taken by the City Council:

1. Appoint to the office the person who has been
II nominated;
12
2. Appoint to the office any eligible elector if
13 no one has been nominated;
14
3. Hold the election if either no one or only one
15 person has been nominated;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, a notice was published on February 10, 1984,
18 in a newspaper of general circulation pursuant to law.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
20 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That pursuant to Section 22843.5 of the
22 Elections Code of the State of California, the following action
23 is being taken:
24 The following persons are being appointed
25 to the offices to which they were nominated:

SECTION 2: The election scheduled to be held on
2 Tuesday, April 10, 1984, is now cancelled.

SECTION 3: The persons appointed shall qualify and
4 take office and serve exactly as if elected at a municipal
5 election for the office.

SECTION 4: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
7 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
8 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
9 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of February, 1984.
