RESOLUTION NO. 5134
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AMENDING SCHEDULE V, EXHIBIT "D",
SCHEDULE VI, EXHIBIT "E", AND SCHEDULE VII,
EXHIBIT "F", OF RESOLUTION NO. 5120 WHICH
AMENDED RESOLUTION NO. 4918 FIXING THE
COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF SAID
CITY AND AUTHORIZING CERTAIN EXPENSE ALLOWANCES
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5120 was adopted by the City
Council of the City of Vernon on June 28, 1984, to be effective
on July 1, 1984; and
WHEREAS, tpe City Council of the City of Vernon finds
it necessary (i) to amend Schedule V, Exhibit "D", to provide for
a change in the title of "Administrative Battalion Chief" to
"Deputy Fire Chief", (ii) to amend Schedule VI, Exhibit "E", to
provide for the creation of a position of Civilian Court Officer
and to conform court appearance fees to be in compliance with the
Memorandum of Understanding of August 23, 1979; and (iii) to
amend Schedule VII, Exhibit "F", to provide for the creation of
a position of Administrative Aide in accordance with the re-
commendation of Bruce V. Malkenhorst, City Administrator/City
Clerk.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council" of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained herein-
above are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That Schedule V, Exhibit "D", of Resolution
No. 5120 shall be amended to provide that the title of
"Administrative Battalion Chief" is hereby changed to "Deputy

SECTION 3: That Schedule VI, Exhibit "E", of
3 Resolution No. 5120 shall be amended to create the position of
4 Civilian Court Officer and to establish the following salary
5 scale for said position:

SECTION 4: That Schedule VI, Exhibit "E", of
10 Resolution No. 5120 shall be amended on page 30, line 16, to
11 page 31, line 20, to read as follows:
12 "In addition to said s~laries, a flat rate of Forty
13 Dollars ($40.00) for half a court day or less shall be paid when
14 an appearance by a Sergeant, Patrolman I and Patrolman II is
15 to be made for an off-duty court matter. In the event the
16 Officer is called to appear for a morning cOurt calendar and
17 remains under court order beyond the noon recess, an additional
18 Thirty Dollars ($30.00) shall be paid for said appearance. In
19 the event that an Officer is called to appear for an afternoon
20 calendar when he is off duty, the sum of Forty Dollars ($40.00)
21 per day shall be paid for said appearance. Said payment of
22 Forty Dollars ($40.00) [or a total of Seventy Dollars (70.00)
23 where applicable] shall be payable each day for any off-duty
24 appearance. Court appearances which extend beyond an employee's
2~ normal shift assignment shall be compensated as paid overtime
26 unless said paid overtime exceeds Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00)
27 in which event said employee shall receive the sole sum of
28 Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00) as court appearance compensation.

In addition, a Sergeant, Patrolman I and Patrolman II shall be
compensated for 'stand by' status when requested by the Suoerior
Court, Municipal Court, District Attorney's Office, or the Vernon
Police Department in the line of duty outside regular scheduled
duty hours as follows:
(a) Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) for half a court day ending
at 1:45 p.m.
(b) Thirty Dollars ($30.00) for a full court day.
(c) However, if said employee is required to appear in
court, he shall receive court appearance compensation rather
than 'stand by' compensation."
SECTION 5: That Schedule VII, Exhibit "F", of
Resolution No. 5120 shall be amended to create the position of
Administrative Aide and to establish the following salary scale
for said position:

SECTION 6: That in all other respects, Resolution No.
5120 shall remain in full force and effect and that the
provisions in Resolution No. 5120, Schedule V, Exhibit "0",
Schedule VI, Exhibit "E", and Schedule VII, Exhibit "F", not
consistent with or in conflict with this Resolution are hereby
repealed.

hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Resolution and
effect.
thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
