RESOLUTION NO. 5175
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING THE JOINT APPLICATIONS
FOR CAPACITY AND ENERGY FROM THE PARKER-DAVIS
PROJECT AND THE HOOVER POWER PLANT UPRATING
PROGRAM PURSUANT TO THE WESTERN AREA POWER
ADMINISTRATION PUBLISHED IN THE FEDERAL
REGISTER ON JANUARY 18, 1985
7 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon on
8 February 21, 1984, approved a :t>1emorandum of Understanding ("MOU")
9 concerning power from Hoover Power Plant upratings and the
10 Parker-Davis Project; and
11 WHEREAS, said MOU provided that the Cities of Anaheim,
12 Azusa, Banning, Burbank, Colton, Pasadena, Glendale, Riverside
13 and Vernon had agreed to submitting joint applications for
14 capacity and energy from the Parker-Davis Project and the Hoover
15 Power Plant uprating; and
16 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon
17 authorized Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Chief Executive Officer
18 of the Light and Power Department, to execute the MOU; and
19 WHEREAS, the MOU provided that the City of Vernon
20 would cooperate in preparing and filing an application for
21 capacity and energy from Hoover Power Plant uprating program
22 pursuant to the provisions of the MOU; and
23 WHEREAS, the nine cities filed a joint application
24 for capacity and energy from Hoover Power Plant uprating
25 program effective March 15, 1985; and
26 WHEREAS, the six cities of Anaheim, Azusa, Banninq,
27 Colton, Riverside and Vernon filed a joint application for
28 capacity and energy from the Parker-Davis Project effective

March 15, 1985; and
WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Chief Executive
Officer of the Light and Power Department, executed the joint
applications in accordance with the previously approved MOU; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires
to approve and ratify the joint applications as filed on
March 15, 1985.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIl. OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
does hereby find and determine that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby approves and ratifies the joint application for capacity
and energy from Hoover Power Plant uprating program and the
joint application for capacity and energy from the Parker-Davis
Project filed on March 15, 1985 and approves and ratifies the
execution of said joint applications by Bruce V. Malkenhorst,
the Chief Executive Officer of the Light and Power Department.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Chief Executive
Officer of the Light and Power Department, to take any further
action necessary and proper to implement the City Council's
approval of the filing of the joint applications.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
