RESOLUTION NO. 5181
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
3 OF VERNON INITIATING PROCEEDINGS FOR
"REORGANIZATION NO. 1-84, PARCELS 1, 2 AND
4 3" INVOLVING THE CITIES OF VERNON AND MAYWOOD
5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
6 Resolution No. 5158 on December 18, 1984; and
7 WHEREAS, said resolution making application for the
8 proposed reorganization of territories, designated as
9 "Reorganization 1-84, Parcels 1, 2 and 3" involving the cities
10 of Vernon and Maywood, was filed with the Local Agency Formation
11 Commission ("LAFCO") pursuant to the District Reorganization
12 Act of 1965; and
13 WHEREAS, LAFCO approved the reorganization on March 27,
14 1985, designated the City Council of the City of Vernon as the
15 conducting authority, and directed the city to initiate
16 reorganization proceedings.
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
18 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the preliminary proceedings for the
20 reorganization were commenced by resolution making application
21 by the City of Vernon.

SECTION 2: That the ext.erior boundaries of the affected
23 territories are described. in Exhibit "A" which is attached
24 hereto and made a part hereof.

SECTION 3: That the reason for the proposed
26 reorganization, as set forth in the resolution, is aiding
27 considerably in the recognition, especially by emergency
28 services, of the boundaries of the two cities.

SECTION 4: LAFCO has determined that the affected
2 territories are uninhabited and LAFCO approved the reorganization
3 on March 27,1985, with no specific terms or ooriditions.

SECTION 5: The City Council of the City of Vernon
5 hereby directs that a public hearing on the proposed
6 reorganization is set for May 7, 1985, at 5:00 p.m., in the
7 City Council Chambers at the Vernon City Hall located at 4305
8 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California, and that any interested
9 person desiring to make written protest against the re-
10 organization should do so by written communication filed with the
11 City Clerk of the City of Vernon not later than the hour set
12 for hearing. A written protest by a landowner shall contain a
13 description sufficient to identify the land owned by him.

SECTION 6: The City Council of the City of Vernon
15 hereby directs the City Clerk to send a copy of this resolution
16 to LAFCO, the C~ty of Maywood, and to Forester and Fire Warden.

SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
18 hereby directed to certify to the passage of this resolution
19 and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force
20 and effect.

PARCEL 1: Annexation to the City of Vernon, Detachment
from the City of Maywood and Consolidated Fire
Protection District of Los Angeles County
Beginning at the intersection of the northerly
line of Fruitland Avenue, 50 feet wide, as shown on map
filed in Book 84, pages 58 and 59 of Record of Surveys, in
the office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles and
the easterly line of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad
right of way, 80 feet wide, as shown on said map, said
intersection being a point in the common boundary between
the City of Vernon and the City of Maywood as same existed
on February 13, 1985; thence southerly along the boundary of
the City of Maywood a distance of 25 feet to the center line
of said Fruitland Avenue as said center line is shown on
said map; thence North 890 10' 00" East 241.77 feet and
South 820 47' 15" East 2763.04 feet along said center line
to its intersection with said common boundary; thence
northerly and westerly along said common boundary to the
point of beginning.

2688 of Tract No. 5953 as shown on map filed in Book 65,
pages 97 and 98 of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of
the County of Los Angeles, distant easterly along said
northerly line 9.63 feet from the northwesterly corner of
said lot, said point being a point in the common boundary
between the City of Vernon and the City of Maywood as same
existed on February 13, 1985; thence South 540 27' 15" East
234.83 feet along the southwesterly line ~f District
Boulevard, 100 feet wide, as shown on map filed in Book 84,
pages 58 and 59 of Record of Survey, in the office of said
recorder, to the easterly line of Lot 2692 of said tract;
thence northerly and westerly along said common boundary to
the point of beginning.

Beginning at the intersection of the northeasterly
line of Lot 2387 of Tract No. 5952 as shown on map filed in
Book 64, page 11 of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of
the County of Los Angeles and a line parallel with and 10
feet southeasterly, measured at right angles from the north-
westerly line of said lot, said intersection being a point
in the common boundary between the City of Maywood and the
City of Vernon as same existed on February 13, 1985; thence
North 330 19' 45" East 25 feet along said parallel line to
the center line of Fifty-Second Drive (now known as 52nd
Drive), 50 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No. 7923
filed in Book 113, pages 80 through 83 inclusive of said
Maps; thence South 540 27' 15" East 1950.49 feet along said
center line and its southeasterly prolongation to the
northeasterly prolongation of that certain course having a
