RESOLUTION NO. 5219
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF A PALO VERDE COORDINATION
AGREEMENT ~10NG THE CITIES OF AZUSA, BANNING,
COLTON, RIVERSIDE AND VERNON
6 WHEREAS, the Cities of Azusa, Banning, Colton,
7 Riverside, and Vernon have acquired entitlements in the Palo
8 Verde Nuclear Generating Station ("pVNGS "); and
9 WHEREAS, the five cities have signed an Integrated
10 Operations Agreement ("IOA") with the Southern California
11 Edison Company ("SCE") integrating their entitlements with SCE;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, the lOA requires the five cities to purchase,
14 schedule, and dispatch replacement energy and replacement
15 capacity, or purchase said energy and capacity from SCE at very
16 high rates; and
17 WHEREAS, the five cities can discharge their joint
18 lOA responsibilities in an efficient and economical fashion
19 by planning together and operating their entitlements as a
20 unit; and
21 WHEREAS, the Palo Verde Coordination Agreement provides
22 for the coordination of the five cities' interest in accordance
23 with the lOA.
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
25 THE CITIES OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
26 SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
27 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained herein-
28 above are true and correct.

SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
2 hereby approves the Palo Verde Coordination Agreement, a copy
3 of which has been presented to the City Council concurrently
4 with this Resolution, and the City Council hereby orders said
5 Agreement to be received and filed by the City Clerk.
6 SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
7 hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said
8 Agreement for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
9 SECTION 4: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon
10 shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
11 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
12 APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of October, 1985.
