RESOLUTION NO.-5306
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE
CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON
AUGUST 12, 1986
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows:
SECTION 1. A special municipal election was duly called
and regularly held in the City of Vernon on the 12th. day of August,
1986, at which election there were submitted to the qualified voters
of the City the following propositions:
PROPOSITION A:
Shall the city of Vernon authorize the issuance of revenue
bonds in one or more series, in an aggregate principal
amount not to exceed $150,000,000, for the acquisition,
construction and financing of municipal improvements inside
or outside the City boundaries, inCluding additions, exten-
sions and improvements of the electrical power system of
the City and other public improvements, and the acquisition
of land and rights of way, and including all engineering,
inspection and legal fees, bond reserve funds and interest
during the construction period and for a period not to
exceed twelve months after completion of construction, and
other costs. and expenses incidental to or connected with
such acquisition, construction, improvement and financing?
PROPOSITIONB:
Shall an ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the City of
Vernon Relating to Salaries and Compensation of Certain
Appointed Officers and Employees of the City of Vern.on" be
adopted?
PROPOSITION C:
Shall city councilmember salaries be increased to $694.50
per month to conform to amounts provided for in Government
Code section 36516 for cities over 75,000 population, as
adjuste~, subject to limitations provided by Government
Code section 36516.5?
PROPOSITION D:
Shall the city council be authorized to increase council
member salaries hereafter 5 percent annually pursuant to
the provisions of Government Code section 36516(c), subject
to limitations provided by Government Code
section 36516.5?
-PROPOSITION E:
Shall the City of Vernon authorize the issuance of general
obligation bonds in one or more series, in an aggregate
principal amount not to exceed $150,000,000, for the acqui-
sition, construction and financing of municipal improve-
ments inside or outside the City boundaries, including
additions, extensions and improvements of the electrical
power system of the City and other public improvements, and
the acquisition of land and rights of way, and including
all engineering, inspection and legal fees, bond reserve
funds and interest during the construction period and for a
period not to exceed twelve months after completion of con-
struction, and other costs and expenses incidental to or
connected with such acquisition, construction, improvement
and financing?
SECTION 2. The returns of said election have been duly
canvassed as provided by law, and a document entitled Result of Votes
Cast, shoWing the results of the canvass of the returns of said elec-
tion has been posted by the canvassing board for said election.
SECTION 3. The total votes cast at said election upon
said propositions and for and against said propositions are as set
forth in the aforesaid document entitled Result of Votes Cast, a copy
of which document is attached hereto as Exhibit A.
SECTION 4. The votes of a majority of all the voters
voting at said election upon Proposition A were cast in favor of the
adoption of said Proposition, and said Proposition is hereby declared
to have carried, and this City Council is authorized to issue bonds
for the purpose stated therein as provided by law.
SECTION 5. The votes of a majority of all the voters
voting at said election upon Proposition B were cast in favor of the
adoption of said Proposition, and said Proposition is hereby declared
to have carried.
SECTION 6. The votes of a majority of all the voters
voting at said eleetion upon Proposition C were cast in favor of the
adoption of said Proposition, and said Proposition is hereby declared
to have carried.
SECTION 7. The votes of a majority of all the voters
voting at said election upon Proposition D were cast in favor of the
adoption of said Proposition, and said Proposition is hereby declared
to have carried.

SECTION 8. The votes of less than two-thirds of all the
voters voting at said election upon Proposition E were cast in favor
of the adoption of said Proposition, and said Proposition is hereby
declared to have failed.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk is hereby directed to enter
this resolution in full in the minutes of this City Council, which
entry shall constitute the City Clerk's statement of the result of
the election.
ADOPI'ED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this nineteenth day of August I
1986.
