A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF PLANNING AGREEMENTS FOR THE
DESERT SOUTHWEST INLAND INTERTIE TRANSMISSION
SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Arizona Public Service Company, the
6 Nevada Power Company, the Salt River Project Agricultural
7 Improvement and Power District, and the Tucson Electric Power
8 Company have proposed the construction of a transmission line
9 known as the Pacific Northwest-Desert Southwest Inland Intertie
10 Project; and
11
WHEREAS, various agencies in the Pacific Northwest
12 have joined with the above-mentioned agencies to share the cost
13 of studying and developing the Project; and
14
WHEREAS, these agencies have solicited applications
15 for participation in said Project; and
16 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon, along with numerous other
17
agencies,

applications expressing interest in said
18 Project;
19
WHEREAS,
the
City
of
Vernon
was
allocated
20 approximately one percent (1.01.) of the Project which is
21 estimated to be from 1600 mw to 2200 mw of transmission
22 capacity; and
23
WHEREAS, in order for the City of Vernon to become a
24 participant in said Project, it must execute the Pacific
25 Northwest-Desert Southwest Inland Intertie Stage I JQint Work
26 Agreement and the Desert Southwest Inland Intertie Stage I Work
27 Agreement; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of

Vernon and its citizens to enter into these planning agreements
and guaranty its percentage share in said Project if said
Project is built.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
~sQIIQ~_l: That the City Council of the City of
Vernon hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
~~QIIQ~_6: That the City Council of the City of
Vernon hereby approves the Pacific Northwest-Desert Southwest
Inland Intertie Stage I ~Qint Work Agreement and the Desert
Southwest Inland Intertie Stage I work Agreement, copies of
which have been presented to the City Council concurrently with
this Resolution and the City Council hereby orders
said
Agreements to be received and filed by the City Clerk.
~sQIIQ~_~: That the City Council of the City of
Vernon hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute
said Agreements for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
~sQIIQ~_!: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of September, 1986.
