A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NO. 7-~7-30-P1029
BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE
INTERIOR, BUREAU OF RECLAMATION, BOULDER
CANYON PROJECT AND THE CITY OF VERNON FOR THE
UPRATING PROGRAM AT HOOVER POWERPLANT
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon applied to the Western Area
Power Administration ("WAPA") for an allocation of power pursuant
to the Hoover Power Plant Act of 1984: and
WHEREAS, WAPA has offered Contract No. DE-MS65-86WP39587
to the City of Vernon in accordance with said Act: and
WHEREAS, Section 101(a) of the Hoover Power Plant Act
authorized the Secretary of the Interior to increase the capacity
of existing generating equipment and appurtenances at the Hoover
Powerplant, referred to as the "Uprating Program" and Section
1~5(d) of the Hoover Power Plant Act requires that the Uprating
Program be undertaken with funds advanced by those non-Federal
entities that contract with WAPA to purchase contingent capacity
and firm energy resulting from the Uprating Program: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said Act the Bureau of Reclamation
has submitted to Vernon a contract to advance to the United
States, as prepayment for contingent capacity and firm energy
purchased from the United States in accordance with Contract No.
DE-MS65-86WP39587 between the United States Department of Energy,
WAPA, and the City of Vernon, the funds required for the Uprating
Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon

hereby approves Contract No. 7-07-30-P1029, a copy of which has

been presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolu-
tion during the City Council meeting held on January 6,
1987,

and the City Council hereby orders said Contract to be received
6
and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 2:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said

Contract for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
