RESOLUTION NO. 5481
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT FOR FIRE CHIEF
SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon intends
to appoint Larry Spadt, the current Acting Fire Chief, to the
position of Fire Chief of the City of Vernonr and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon desires
to execute an Employment Agreement with Larry Spadt which
provides the terms and conditions of his employment with the City
of Vernon in his capacity as Fire Chief of the Vernon Fire
Departmentr and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that there
be close cooperation and coordination between the Fire Chief and
the City Administrator and the City Council in administering and
implementing City Council policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
19 SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
20 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained

hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
23 hereby approves the Employment Agreement for the Position of Fire
24 Chief in the Vernon Fire Department, a copy of which has been
25 presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolution
26 and the City Council hereby orders said Agreement to be received
27 and filed by the City Clerk.

SECTION 3: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said
Agreement for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
SECTION 4:
That Larry Spadt as provided for in said
Agreement is hereby appointed to serve as the Fire Chief in the
Vernon Fire Department.
SECTION 5:
That the Employment Agreement for the ap-
pointment to said Fire Chief position sha11 become effective com-
mencing February ~, 1988.
SECTION 6: That Mr. Spadt shall directly coordinate and
cooperate in the administering of City Council policies and prac-
tices in relation to administrative and personnel matters in the
Fire Department with the City Administrator and shall keep the
City Council ful1y informed of the Department I s administration
and operation.
SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shal1 be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of February, 1988.
