RESOLUTION NO. 5SL~1
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON GRANTING A VARIANCE TO RELIABLE
TAPE PRODUCTS FROM THE AMENDED INTERTIf
ZONING ORDINANCE, SECTION 4.2.8, DEVELOPHENT
STANDARDS, FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 4611 48TH
STREET IN THE CITY OF VERNON
6 '~EREAS, Reliable Tape Products has applied for an
7 occupancy permit for a building which requires a variance from
8 the Amended Interim Zoning Ordinance, Section 4.2.8, Develonment
9 Standards, for property located at 46ll4.8th Stree.t i and
10 l~EREAS, the physical condition of the property is unique
11 in that the existing 6,060 square foot building nearly covers
12 the entire property and was constructed with an interior truck
13 well 30 feet long, measured from the street right-of-way and 15
14 feet wide wide; and
15 HHEREAS, Ihterim Zoning Ordinance Section 4.2.7 requires
16 one loading space for a building under 8,000 square feet in floor
17 area, Section 4.2.8c specifies that such a loading space shall
18 be a minimum of 10-feet wide and 65-feet long, and Section ~..4.4c
19 provides that a non-conforming building must comply with these
20 standards with any changes in occupancy; and
21 ~1HEREAS, Reliable Tape Products will restrict vehicles
22 using the dock to a maximum length of 30 feet which should cause
23 no adverse effects on residents or property owners within the
24 vicinity of said site; and
25 lVREREAS, the application of the development standards for
26 truck loading space sizing requirements will create an
27 unreasonable hardship by requiring that a 65 foot long by 20 foot
28 wide space be provided; and

1VHEREAS, 4611 48th Street is located in the M zone and the
Reliable Tape Products operation is consistent with the objectives
of the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, of the City of Vernon held a
hearing on said application for a variance on August 9, 1988.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained hereiriabove
are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That a variance from the loading space siz~ be
granted to Re.liable Tape Products at 4611 48th Street subject to
the condition that the useage of the loading SDace be limited to
vehicles with a maximum length of 30 feet.
SECTION 3, That noncompliance with this condition shall
constitute sufficient grounds for the City Council of the City of
Vernon to void this variance and require the application of the
authorized truck loading space requirement.
SECTION 4: That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
cerifiy to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
