RESOLUTION NO. 5558
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
4 OF VERNON GIVING NOTICE OF APPEAL TO THE
PLANNING ADVISORY AND ASSISTANCE COUNCIL
5 FROM THE DENIAL OF AN EXTENSION FOR THE
HOUSING ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN

7 WHEREAS, On August 23, 1988, by Resolution No.
8 5544, the City Council of the City of Vernon authorized the
9 filing of an application with the State of California Office
10 of Planning and Research (OPR) pursuant to the Government
11 Code Section 65361 for an extension of time for preparing a
12 revised general plan including all the elements thereof; and
13
WHEREAS, by letter dated September 20, 1988, the
14 Director of the OPR, granted a twelve-month extension to Sep-
15 tember 21, 1989, for adoption of all elements of the General
16 Plan except for the housing element; and
17 WHEREAS, Government Code Section 65361 states that
18 the Director "shall grant a reasonable extension of
19 time...for the preparation and adoption of all or part of the
20 general plan.

WHEREAS, Government Code Section 65362 authorizes
22 the City to appeal a denial of an extension of time to the
23 Planning Advisory and Assistance Council.
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
25 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
27 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
28 hereinabove are true and correct.

section 2: The City of Vernon hereby gives notice
2 to the Planning Advisory and Assistance Council that pursuant
3 to Government Code Section 65362 it appeals the denial of the
4 an extension of time for the revision of the housing element
5 to the Vernon General Plan.

section 3: The City Clerk is directed to transmit
this notice of appeal to the Planning Advisory and Assistance
Council for its action.
Section 4:
The City Clerk of the Ci ty of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
