A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF AN EDISON-VERNON LADWP FIRM
TRANSMISSION SERVICE AGREEMENT AND LETTER
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF VERNON AND
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has entered into a Short-
Term Capacity and Energy Sales Agreement with Department of
Water and Power of the City of Los Angeles ("LADWP") to pur-

chase 30 megawatts of capacity and associated energy per hour

commencill9 February 1, 1989, and Vernon desires to use said
10
capacity and associated energy asa non-integrated source; and
11
WHEREAS, Southern California Edison Company (Edison)
12
owns and operates 220 kV and 66 kV transmission facilities be-
13
tween Sylmar and Vernon; and
i
14
WHEREAS, Vernon desires to purchase firm transmission
15
service from Sylmar to enable Vernon to transport capacity and
16
associated energy from LADWP from Sylmar to Vernon; and
17
WHEREAS, Edison is unwilling to make changes to the
18
Firm Transmission Service Agreement and side letter agreement
19
as requested by Vernon in regards to previous request for
20
transmission service; and
WHEREAS, Vernon is forced to accept the Edison agree-
ment or lose any benefits it might obtained by purchasing from
LADWP.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Ver-

non hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained

1 hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTIO~'2: That the City Council of the City of,Ver-
3 non hereby approves the Edison-Vernon LADWP Firm Transmission
4 Service Agreement and Letter Agreement, a copy of which has
5 been presented to the City Council concurrently with this
6 resolution and the City Council hereby orders said Agreements
7 to be received and filed by the City Clerk.

SECT~ON 3: That the City Council of the City of Ver-
9 non hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute
10 said Agreements for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
11
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the city of Vernon shall
12 certify to the passage of this resolution anCi thereupon and
13 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
