Resolution No. 5583 . . 1 2 3 4 RESOLUTION NO. 5583 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT PURSUANT TO SECTION 2.31 OF THE VERNON CITY CODE 5 6 7 WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, by letters dated October 19, 1988 and January 4, 1989, recommended to the Finance Committee that the property from the Fire Depart- 8 9 ment more particularly described on the attached Exhibit "A", 10 II which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are obsolete, out- dated and in poor and irreparable condition and are therefor no 12 13 l4 l5 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 longer useful to the needs of the City of Vernon; and WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, Director of Finance, by letter dated January 4" 1989, recommended to the Finance Com- mittee that the property from the Police Department and the Com- munity Services Department more particularly described on the at- tached Exhibits "B" and "C", which are attached hereto and made a part hereof, is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon as said items are obsolete, outdated and in poor and irreparable condition and are therefor no longer useful to the needs of the City of Vernon; and 23 WHEREAS, Bruce V. Malkenhorst, the Purchasing Agent, has recommended that the said surplus property described in the at- 24 25 tached Exhibits "A", "B" and "c" be disposed of by public 26 27 auction; and 28 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has determined that it is in the best interests of the City. of Vernon , ' " . 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 l2 13 14 l5 16 17 18 19 20 21 that the property described in the attached Exhibits "A", "B" and "c" from the Fire Department, the Police Department and the Com- munity Services Department be sold as surplus pursuant to Section 2.31 of the Vernon City Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That in accordance with section 37350 of the Government Code of the State of California, the City Council of the City of Vernon hereby finds and determines that the property described in the attached Exhibits "A", "B" and "C" is surplus to the needs of the City of Vernon. SECTION 2: That the City Administrator/City Clerk is hereby authorized to contract with an auction company for the sale of the property described in the attached Exhibits "A", "B" and "c" as surplus property. SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
