RESOLUTION NO. ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR
1988 STATE GRANT MONEYS FOR AREA RECREATION
FACILITIES PROJECT
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California
have enacted the California Wildlife, Coastal and Park
Land Conservation Act of 1988, which provides funds to the
State of California and its political subdivisions for ac-
quiring lands and for developing facilities for public
recreation and historical purposes; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and
Recreation has been delegated the responsibility for the
administration of the program within the state, setting up
necessary procedures governing application by local
agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the
State Department of Parks and recreation require the ap-
plicant to certify by resolution the approval of applica-
tions prior to submission of said applications to the
state; and
WHEREAS, said applications contain assurances
that the applicant must comply with; and
WHEREAS, the applicant agency will enter into an
agreement with the State of California for the acquisition
and/or development of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has a grant of
$20,000 from the California Wildlife, Coastal and Park

Land Conservation Act of 1988 which could be best used by
the City of Lynwood Park Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has agreed to hold
harmless the City of Vernon, its officers, agents and
employees against any and all claims, demands, damages,
costs, expenses or liabilities arising out of the acquisi-
tion, development, construction, operation, or maintenance
of the Lynwood Park property on 3798 E. Century Boulevard
in the City of Lynwood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Ver-
non hereby approves the filing of an application for
$20,000 from the 1988 California Wildlife, Coastal and
Park Land Conservation Act moneys.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Ver-
non hereby certifies that:
(a) The Cities of Vernon and Lynwood understand
the assurances and certification in the application;
(b) That the City of Lynwood will have suffi-
cient funds to operate and maintain the project;
(c) That the Cities of Vernon and Lynwood have
reviewed and understand the General Provisions contained
in the state/local agreement.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Ver-
non does hereby authorize the use of its allocation of

Land Conservation Act of 1988 to the City of Lynwood for
the development of the Lynwood Park Project;
SECTION 4: The City Council of the City of Ver-
non does hereby approve the Director of Parks and Recrea-
tion of the City of Lynwood as agent of the cities to con-
duct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents
including, but not limited to, applications, agreements,
amendments, payment requests, and so on which may be
necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project
in the City of Lynwood;
SECTION 5: That the Mayor is hereby authorized
to sign all necessary and appropriate documents to imple-
ment the filing of said applications and to further the
development of the park projects.
SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and there-
upon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of January,
1989.

tion, being Resolution No. 5586, was duly adopted by the
City Council of the City of Vernon, and was approved by
the Mayor of said City at an adjourned regular meeting of
the City Council held on Tuesday, January 24, 1989.
