RESOLUTION NO. 5607
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE LOS
ANGELES-VERNON SHORT-TERM CAPACITY AND
ENERGY SALES AGREEMENT (DWP NO. 10661) BY
AND BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND
POWER OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND THE
CITY OF VERNON PROVIDING FOR AN EXTENSION
OF SAID AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon ap-
proved Resolution No. 5580 on December 20, 1988, which approved
and authorized the execution of a Los Angeles-Vernon Short-Term
Capacity and Energy Sales Agreement by and between the Depart-
ment of Water and Power of the City of Los Angeles (tlLADWpU)
and the City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, said Agreement, which was executed on January
15 12, 1989, provided for the purchase of capacity and associated

energy from LADWP in substitution for the previously noticed
Special Condition No. 12 Bonneville Power Administration
(UBPAtI) resource from February 1, 1989, up to and including May
31, 1989; and
WHEREAS, BPA and LADWP pave not entered into an agree-
ment to exchange firm transmission capacity which would have
permitted BPA to deliver capacity and associated energy to Ver-
non at Sylmar; and
WHEREAS, Vernon needs to extend the Los Angeles-Vernon
agreement to provide for capacity and associated energy in sub-
stitution for the Vernon-BPA resource from June 1, 1989 through
December 31, 1990; and

WHEREAS, LADWP desires to sell and deliver short-term
capacity and associated energy to Vernon in substitution for
Vernon's BPA resource during the period from June 1, 1989
through December 31, 1990; and
WHEREAS, Vernon desires to purchase and receive
capaci ty and associated energy from LADWP to be used in sub-
stitution for Vernon's previously noticed BPA resource during
the period from June 1, 1989 through December 31, 1990.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the ci ty of Vernon
hereby approves the Amendment No. 1 to the Los Angeles-Vernon
Short-Term Capacity and Energy Sales Agreement with LADWP, a
copy of which has been presented to the Ci ty Council concur-
rently with this resolution, and the City Council hereby orders
said Amendment to be received and filed by the City Clerk.
SECTIQN 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said
Amendment for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
