A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF AN ADELANTO-LUGO
TRAN~MISSION PROJECT PLANNING AGREEMENT
AMONG THE CITIES OF ANAHEIM, AZUSA,
BANNING, BURBANK, COLTON, GLENDALE,
PASADENA, RIVERSIDE AND VERNON, M-S-R
PUBLIC POWER AGENCY AND WESTERN AREA POWER
ADMINISTRATION

WHEREAS, Vernon, along with other parties, executed the

Mead/McCullough-victorville/Adelanto Transmission Project
9

Planning Agreement as of April 1, 1985, to study the feasibility
of providing a transmission path from Mead Substation or
11
McCullough switching station in the vicinity of Boulder city,
12
Nevada, to the Victorville, or Adelanto switching station near
13
Victorville, California ("Mead-Adelanto Project Planning
14
Agreement"); and
15

WHEREAS, Vernon and other parties desire to study the
feasibility of a 500 kV AC Transmission line between the Los
17
18
Angeles Department of Water and Power's Adelanto switching
station and Southern California Edison's Lugo Substation (the
19
"Adelanto-Lugo Project" or the "project") in order to,
among
20

other things, provide a transmission path to the Edison system;
and
WHEREAS, by executing the Planning Agreement, Vernon
23
and the other parties intend to (i) pursue certain Planning Work
24
(ii)
cause to be provided advisory and
for the proj ect ;

conSUlting services related to the Project; and (iii) reserve
their respective rights to participate in the Project by
electing to be responsible for a portion of the costs of such
Planning Work in the manner provided for in said Agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF

THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City council of the city of Vernon
4
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
5
hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
7
hereby approves the Planning Agreement, a copy of which has been
presented to the City Council concurrently with this resolution
and the City Council hereby orders said Agreement to be received
8

and filed by the city Clerk.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
12
hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute said
13
Agreement for, and on behalf of, the City of Vernon.
14
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
15

certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of November, 1989.
