RESOLUTION NO. 5694
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON APPROVING CONTRACT NO. 497 AND
AUTHORIZING NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS
OR BIDS FOR PACKERS, C.M.D. SEWER, STORM
DRAIN AND STREET RECONSTRUCTION IN ACCORDANCE
WITH CONTRACT NO. 497 OF THE CITY OF VERNON
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Coun-
cil of the City of Vernon Contract No. 497 for Packers, C.M.D.
Sewer, Storm Drain and Street Reconstruction; and
9 WHEREAS, said contract provides for the realignment
10 of Packers Avenue with 46th Street and for street improvements
11 consisting of curb, gutter, sidewalk, pavement, storm drains,
12 and/or street trees (1) in said realigned portion of Packers
13 Avenue, (2) in 48th and 49th Streets between Lorna Vista Avenue
14 and Corona Avenue, (3) in Lorna Vista and Corona Avenues be-
15 tween District Boulevard and 50th Street, (4) in 50th Street
16 between Lorna Vista Avenue and Gifford Avenue, and (5) in Gif-
17 ford Avenue between 50th street and Fruitland Avenue; and
18 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon has
19 determined that it is in the best interests of the City of
20 Vernon that said contract be advertised in accordance with
21 applicable State law.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
23 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
24 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
25 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained here-
26 inabove are true and correct.
27 SECTION 2: Contract No. 497 is hereby approved by
28 the City Council of the City of Vernon.

1 SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
2 hereby directed to file in his office at the City Hall of the
3 City of Vernon a copy of said contract.
4 SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
5 hereby directed to give notice, in writing, inviting sealed
6 proposals or bids for Packers, C.M.D. Sewer, Storm Drain
7 and Street Reconstruction, in accordance with Contract No.
8 497 and in accordance with this resolution.
9 SECTION 5: There being no newspaper of general cir-
10 culation printed, published or circulated in the City of Ver-
11 non, the City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or
12 cause the same to be posted, in three of the most public
13 places in the City of Vernon, to wit: the northwest corner of
14 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue, the northeast corner of
15 Leonis Boulevard and Pacific Boulevard, and on the bulletin
16 board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of Vernon, 10-
17 cated at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
18 SECTION 6: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
19 hereby directed to post said notice forthwith and the first
20 posting of said notice shall not be less than ten (10) days
21 before the opening of the bids for the proposed contract.
22 Said notice shall provide that sealed proposals or bids will
23 be received by the City of Vernon at the office of the City
24 Clerk of the City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
25 Vernon, CA 90058-0805, until the hour of 2:00 p.m. on the
26 27th day of December 1989, and in accordance with the terms
27 and specifications of Contract No. 497 approved by said
28 City.

SECTION 7: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
2 shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon

and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

City at a regular meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday,
