RESOLUTION NO. 5708
A RESOLUTIONvOF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON GRANTING A CONDITIONAL USE
PERMIT TO LACNYFREIGHT FORWARDERS, INC.
FOR THE OPERATION OF A TRUCK AND FREIGHT
TERMINAL AT 2248 49TH STREET
WHEREAS, Lacny Freight Forwarders, Inc. has applied
for a conditional use permit to operate a truck and freight
terminal at 2248 49th Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon held
a hearing on said application for a conditional use permit on
February 6~ 1990; and
WHEREAS, the proposed site is a non-conforming use
in the General Industry (M) Zone which has been continuously
used as a truck and freight terminal and requires a condi-
tional use permit under the Zoning Ordinance in order to ex-
tend the use; and
WHEREAS, the proposed site is adequate in size,
shape and topography for the proposed operation, has adequate
drainage, and landscaping if required will be installed
pursuant to the Vernon City Code; and
WHEREAS, the proposed site is surrounded by in...
dustrial uses compatible with the proposed use and no adverse
effect from traffic, parking noise, odors, dust, smoke, light
or glare, or risk of fire, infection or explosion is an-
ticipated from the proposed operation; and
WHEREAS, the site has access to 49th Street, and
traffic will travel from the site on 49th Street to either
Alameda Street or Santa Fe Avenue. All of said streets are
located in the City of Vernon and are of adequate width and

1 pavement type to handle the traffic generated from the
2 proposed operations; and
3 WHEREAS, the site is required to have adequate off-
4 street parking and loading facilities in accordance with the
5 Vernon city Code; and
6 WHEREAS, the conditions imposed on the conditional
7 use permit will adequately protect the public health, safety
8 and general welfare and the operation is consisten~ with all
9 applicable rules and laws of the city of Vernon; and
10 WHEREAS, the proposed use as to location, operation,
11 and design is consistent with the General Plan and the Zoning
12 Ordinance of the City of Vernon.
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
14 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
15 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
16 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained here-
17 inabove are true and correct.
18 SECTION 2: The conditional use permit to Lacny
19 Freight Forwarders, Inc. for the operation of a truck and
20 freight terminal at 2248 49th street is granted.
21 SECTION 3: In order to adequately protect the
22 public health, safety and general welfare the following
23 conditions are imposed:
24 a) The facility shall be operated in accordance
25 with the appropriate codes, rules, regulations and subject
26 to permit fees as adopted by the City of Vernon. Prior to
27 occupancy a business license and occupancy permit shall be
28 obtained.

b) Any hazardous substances used or handled .hall
have prior approval from the Vernon Fire and Health Depart-
ments.
c) The number of employee parking spaoes required
per Vernon City Code shall be provided and maintained.
d) All parking and loading facilities shall be
paved with a hard, durable surface material and shall be
adequately drained, and kept free of dust, mud, trash or
weeds.
e) Where parking areas adjoin a public street
or streets, a masonry wall not less than 30 inches in height
or landscaped area a minimum of 4 feet in width, measured from
the property line, shall be established along such frontage,
except at driveways, walkways or where other openings are
necessary.
f) Servicing of vehicles including washing, steam
cleaning and repairing shall be performed in compliance with
appropriate codes.
g) The depressed dock area must be equipped with
adequate drainage which complies with appropriate codes.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
