A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON EXPRESSING ITS REGRET AT
THE UNTIMELY PASSING OF ROBERT M. EATHERLY
AND OFFERING CONDOLENCES TO HIS SURVIVING
FAMILY

WHEREAS, ROBERT M. EATHERLY became an employee of the
7 Vernon' Fire>Department on February 21, 1942, andsea::ved as the
8
Fire Chief from September 8, 1971 to the date of his retirement
9
on August 31, 1974; and
10
WHEREAS, ROBERT M. EATHERLY served the Vernon community
11
in many ways in a prominent, conscientious and capable manner,
12

until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes
to add its voice to the many who have mourned the untimely
passing of ROBERT M. EATHERLY on December 27, 1989.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
17
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon, on
. 19 behalf of the~ntireCity, mourns the passing of ROBERT M.
20 EATHERLY and expresses its deep condolences to his surviving
21 wife, Jean Eatherly.
22
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
23 hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Mrs.
24
Robert M. Eatherly who resides at 2550 Pacific Coast Highway,
25

Space #233, Torrance, California.

SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
and thereupon and

certify to the passage of this resolution,

thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of February, 1990.

Dear Mrs. Eatherly:
We, the City Council, and employees of the City of Vernon were saddened
to hear of the recent demise of Bob. I would like to take this time to
extend our regrets and offer our condolences to you.

February 6, 1990, that expresses our feelings and hope that you accept
