RESOLUTION NO. 5762
3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON GRANTING A VARIANCE TO
4 SAPIRO FAMILY TRUST FROM THE COMPREHEN-
SIVE ZONING ORDINANCE, SECTION 26.4.2-8(e),
5 DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS, FOR PROPERTY
LOCATED AT 4726 LOMA VISTA AVENUE IN THE
6 CITY OF VERNON
7 WHEREAS, the Sapiro Family Trust owns the property at
8 4726 Lorna Vista Avenue (northeast corner of Lorna Vista Avenue and
9 48th Street) and has applied for a variance from the Comprehen-
10 sive Zoning Ordinance, Section 26.4.2-8(e), Development
11 Standards.
12 WHEREAS, the physical condition of the property is
13 unique in that the existing building on the site is covering
14 the entire lot and no onsite parking is provided; and
15 WHEREAS, the Sapiro Family Trust is proposing to demo-
16 lish the unreinforced masonry building covering the westerly
17 portion of the property and provide the required parking and
18 loading spaces for the site and construct an addition to the
19 easterly existing building on the remainder of lot; and
20 WHEREAS, the driveways to the proposed parking and
21 loading spaces will be located approximately 15 feet north of the
22 tangent point of the curb return and 21.5 feet east of the
23 tangent point of the curb return respectively and said driveways
24 will be in nonconformance with the Development Standards which
25 require all curbcuts for a driveway to be a minimum of
26 seventy-five from the point of tangency of the curb return for a
27 driveway used by truck and forty-five feet from the point of
28 tangency of a curb return for a driveway used exclusively by

2 WHEREAS, 4726 Lorna Vista Avenue is located in the M
3 zone and the operation is consistent with the objectives of the
4 General Plan and Zoning Ordinance; and
5 WHEREAS, the City Council, of the City of Vernon held
6 a hearing on said application for a variance on June 5, 1990.
7 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
8 THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS;
9 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
10 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained herein-
11 above are true and correct.

SECTION 2: A variance from the required distance from
13 the curbcut for a driveway to the point of tangency of a curb
14 return is hereby granted to the Sapiro Family Trust for two
15 driveways at 4726 Lorna Vista Avenue.
16 SECTION 3: The variance shall be granted subject to
17 the following conditions: (a) The driveways shall be
18 constructed as shown on the plans submitted with the
19 application. (b) The frontage improvements shall be construct-
20 ed as directed by the Director of Community Services. (c) The
21 property shall be deeded to the City of Vernon for the enlarge-
22 ment of the curb return at the northeast corner of Lorna Vista
23
Avenue and 48th Street.

SECTION 4: Noncompliance with these conditions shall
constitute sufficient grounds for the City Council of the City
of Vernon to void this variance and require the application of

SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
3 certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
4 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
