RESOLUTION NO. 5856
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON ACCEPTING THE BID OF EXCEL
PAVING COMPANY FOR JEWEL AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION
IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT NO. 503 OF THE CITY
OF VERNON AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF SAID
CONTRACT.
6 WHEREAS, Contract No. 503 of the City of Vernon was
7 approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon pursuant to
8 Resolution No. 5836, and sealed bids were opened on
9 November 6, 1990; and
10 WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Victor H. Vaits,
11 Director of Community Services, who has reported to the City
12 Council under the date of November 7, 1990, recommending that
13 Contract No. 503 for Jewel Avenue Reconstruction, be executed
14 with EXCEL PAVING COMPANY on the basis of its bid in the sum
15 of Three Hundred Forty-eight Thousand One Hundred Fourteen
16 Dollars Twenty-four Cents ($348,114.24), being the lowest
17 responsible bid meeting the contract requirements.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
19 OF THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
20 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
21 hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
22 hereinabove are true and correct.
23 SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon
24 does hereby award Contract No. 503 to EXCEL PAVING COMPANY
25 in accordance with the recommendation of Victor H. Vaits,
26 Director of Community Services, and authorizes the Mayor to
27 execute said Contract on behalf of the City.

SECTION 3: All other bids are rejected subject to

execution of the contract and the City Treasurer is hereby
directed to return to unsuccessful bidders any cashier or cer-
tified checks deposited with said bids upon the receipt of an
executed contract from EXCEL PAVING COMPANY accompanied by
all required bonds and certificates.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of November,
1990.
