RESOLUTION NO. 5861
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON ESTABLISHING THE RATES FOR
THE SALE OF WATER IN THE CITY OF VERNON IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE VERNON CITY CODE AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 5693
WHEREAS, Vernon City Code Sections 25.1, 25.2, 25.3,
25.5, 25.46, 25.48 and 25.51 provide that the rates for the sale
of water in the City are to be set by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon adopted
Resolution No. 5693 on December 5, 1989 setting the water rates
effective for the regular billing of February, 1990; and
WHEREAS, Victor H. Vai ts, Director of Community
Services, has recommended by memo dated November 27, 1990, that
the rates established for water services be raised to reflect
the increased cost of providing said services and that the
adjusted rates become effective for regular billing for
February, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the proposed rate changes were approved by the
Finance Committee on December 10, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon wishes
to establish new rates for the sale of water in the City of
Vernon in accordance with the Vernon City Code and to repeal
Resolution No. 5693.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VERNON AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby finds and determines that the recitals contained
hereinabove are true and correct.

SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Vernon does
hereby establish the rates for the sale of water in the City of
Vernon pursuant to Vernon City Code Sections 25.1, 25.2, 25.3,
25.5, 25.46, 25.48 and 25.51 as follows:
1. Water Rates Per 100 Cubic Feet or Vernon 1 (V.C.C.
Sec. 25.1) and Vernon 2. (CMD. V.C.C. Sec. 25.46):
Vernon 1 $0.67/100 cubic feet
Vernon 2 $0.70/100 cubic feet
2. Monthly Minimum Charge For Zero Consumption for
Consumers Generallv for Vernon 1 (V. C. C.
Sec. 25. 2) :

The monthly minimum charge for Vernon 2 (CMD) has been
set by Vernon City Code Section 25.47, in the same amounts as
above. The charge for water in excess of the monthly minimum
charge shall be the minimum charge plus the rates shown in
item 1.

SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Vernon
hereby declares that the applicable rates contained in this
resolution shall be effective for the first regular water
reading for monthly billing purposes in the month of February,
1991.
SECTION 4: Effective February 1, 1991, Resolution No.
5693 is repealed.

SECTION 5: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
